Put a stock AFM in and clear codes by pulling the EFI Fuse and leaving it out for ~5 mins. Then see if any of the cel's return.

pulled the cps out to check the wiring and everything seemed fine.. put it back in and redid the timing.. checked afm wiring and started the car.. idle fine, check engine went away, but as soon as you give it a little gas, it shut off.. start the car again and engine light comes back on.. throwing code 24 and 31 again.. what could cause this? shortage? bad afm?

A bad AFM or it's circuit. Did you clean the AFM by chance or do any mod to anything in that area?

Did you recheck the wiring to the SAFC?

took off the EFI for 5 mins, plugged it back in to still the same.. could a bad crank sensor have something to do with it also? i've also notice i could start the car without the afm plug, plugged in and when idling i could take it off and doesn't shut off.. shortage somewhere? did a search on google for safc setting and on one of the evo forum, it said if the sensor type is not set to karman, it will limit your rev to bout 2000-3000 rpm.. does this also apply to supra?

The 7M AFM is a Karmen Vortex...the motor will start with it unplugged and it can be driven, but it will not run well at all.

What did you clean the AFM with? Just the housing or did you clean the electronics inside too?

can someone post which pins to connect for a Pre 89? hopefully my guesswork i've already done hasn't messed anything up...i read the information i could find with search and this thread - and it all relates to 89+. there is no TE1 on a pre 89. there's T, TeM, and i think something else...i don't know which to jump...ugh.
