hey guys any help would be apreciated here.. i lost track of a few connectors. dues to like 3 people working on the car. so here it is.

first this one.. the cable was broken.. so im not even sure if it was from this side or the intake side cuz there was 2 lines that broke.. one on the exhaust side and one on the intake side so idk lol. im sure its some kind of sensor cuz theres just 1 wire.

socond one.. this green one.. there's supposed to be 2 green ones on this side right? the one in the front broke so i just taped it up and plugged it in near the front of the block behind the alternator.. im guessing this green one goes to the block too? just above where the starter is?.. the thing is... theres nothing sticking out to plug it in..

1st one looks like what's left of either your "cold start time switch" or your ECU temp sender....

2nd one appears to be a knock sensor plug

Don't recognize the first one, but the second is the knock sensor connector. You're Turbo so you should have two of them. The location you mentioned for the front one sounds right; the rear sensor is just above the starter like you said. If there's really nothing sticking out to plug it in then you may need a new knock sensor, but realize that you would have to remove the starter, or at least loosen it enough to tilt it out of the way, to even plug it in (at least for an '87). So if the starter is still in place you might just not be able to feel the plug, keep that in mind.

Also you say the front one broke, I don't know if you mean the wire or connector but either way tape probably isn't an adequate fix and might cause you to throw a code 52; you probably need a new KS connector or at least re-attach the old one properly.

ya the front one.. just the wire broke. so i taped it up. i can see where the rear one would go.. but there's no plug sticking out to plug it in.. hmmm and the first picture... no one knows what it is? on 2 forums lol. its a mystery plug :aigo:

Oh alright, well tape could work I guess but you might try soldering if it gives you problems later on...and yeah if the plug's broken off you definitely need a new knock sensor, new ones are up to $200 I think but used ones are much cheaper like $30-50 if I remember correctly. And what bryanintexas said about the first one seems right but I don't know enough to be sure. If its the cold start switch it plugs into the thermostat housing, a Haynes manual or TSRM will show you.

weird i already have three other plugs plugged into the thermostat housing.. is that why my temp gauge isnt working?

what year is your car ?? the first one looks like the oygen sensor plug

I will second that, O2 sensor was the first thing that came to mind when i saw it. As for the second connector, I agree with the knock sensor.

That's definitely not the O2 sensor plug, the turbo O2 sensor is three wire, and that's only a single wire connector. Unless someone hacked something there.

its an 87 turbo. the wire is brown.. but its connected to a wire that's yellow and green. sorry. didnt take more pics. theres already 3 plugs going to the thermostat housing. so i dont think its that.

and ya i figure the green plug is a knock sensor
but the other one is still a miystery plug.. i can seem to find anything thats needs something to be plugged into it. :(

How well do you know the history of this car? I'm not sure of the year break, but the newer 7M's have a total of five connections on the thermostat housing, 2 on the front part, and 3 on the part that connects to the head. At least my 92 does. Possibly you have a newer wire harness.

I just answered this for someone else, but, it's probably in limp mode, and that due to a problem with the AFM. The ECU senses something wrong in the AFM signal, and uses limp mode to keep you rolling without blowing up the engine. Check the connector, as they get dirty, and sometimes come loose. Pull it, clean it, re-connect it, and make sure the plug is fully seated. Beyond that, the AFM could be bad.

ok so that connector really doesnt look like it belongs there.. so i took it off.. the wire touched a ground and my temp gauge went up to max.. everytime it touches metal.. it jumps up to max. btw.. my temp gauge isnt working anymore.. it did before. its a yellow wire with green line. the thing is... i already have the thermostat housing filled with connectings that fit..
