im getting ready to do a nice 2jz build which when im done,. im going to list part numbers,. everything to help everyone out,. only thing i came into and i defently was a search fan at this one,. but what is the diffrence between a 2JZGTE and 2JZGTE VVTI,. thanks for everyones help

you CAN make some nice power with the VVTI though. Just because there are no aftermarket cams, doesn't mean it's a bad motor. Unless you're going full standalone, the stock ECU will control the VVTI quite well, even with a piggyback.

Here's an example. A buddy of mine has an IS300, with a VVTI motor. Runs USDM turbos, and a V-Pro, while allowing the stock ECU to handle the VVTI work. Makes about 440whp IIRC, with a ridiculously smooth power curve http://www.monsterhorsepower.com/movies_pictures/rctscars/lexusis300ttonelap/pics/

doubt that, I'd have to see proof for that....

I'd doubt toyota would change the rods that they have used in the thousands of 2J's just for one motor...

Actually, they did change the rods. It wasn't just for the VVTI, it was a year change thing. I think Toyota was just trying to reduce rotating mass or something. I think the block is slightly thinner too, but don't quote me on that.

Not like it's hard to change rods though ;)

i wanted to do vvti for a DD kind of thing, like once i get a gs300 i'll use a vvti engine. i know its like a broken record but there are pics from about a week ago with the rods compared
