I cant get my laptop to connect to the ECU. I've already checked to see if it recieving power from the harness, so I know it's powering up through the harness, but when I connect the serial cable (with a USB converter) to the PC, I can get it online. I've set the com port to the correct port too.

I've traced the wire loom & didn't find anything misrouted.....

After reading the AEM tech support section, someone had the same problem. His solution was to download the correct software, which I think I have, V4.7.2.0

Any thoughts?

With the software open, turn the ignition off, then on again and give it time to recognize.

Okay here I can't speak from experience, but some Standalones you CANNOT use a USB converter for the 9 pin. The Stinger SHOULD be compatable.

Check ALL of your grounds. You said the power was good right? Make sure you go through your wiring and ensure X wire is going to X source / ground.

I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get mine to read.. I eventually found out that I wasn't getting power to the ECU because I didn't have my harness grounded.

Next I knew I was getting power to the stinger. I couldn't get my USB-serial adapter to work. I found drivers.. still didn't work. I went under the hardware profile on my computer for the "virtual COM" or whatever they called it (I think it was under ports). I made positive that the stinger was set to the same COM port as the "virtual COM" harware profile said.. and that fixed my problem.

One day I was having trouble connecting, I went through the above hardware profile, I couldn't figure out why it wasn't reading, then I realized that I didn't plug the COM cable into the stinger... you never know. I just figured I'd share that one just in case ;) Good luck Mark.
