I saw somebody wearing a pair of these work pants, but I cant find them anywhere. The legs are a tough heavy canvas, but the seat and part of the thigh are denim. I have googled every combination i can think of and can't find them. My work pants are getting worn, and these things looked too comfortable not to try.

I wear a Carhardt pant that is quite comfortable and has put up with everything I've put them through. Two plus years of daily abuse, and have yet to get a hole in any of them from wear. Think they were called their 'double front' pants. Basically a thick denim, that is doubled up on the front of the thighs down past the knees. Damn good pants and relatively cheap to boot too. :)

Other than that it really sounds like you're describing someone wearing chaps over denim:

thats the basic idea, kinda like pants with chaps built in. the protection of chaps without chaps getting in the way.
I'll still wear my shoeing chaps when i'm trimming horses, but i can always use an extra barrier (hoof nails are sharper than they look).

EDIT: 2 pair on the way, lets see if i got my hopes up for nothing :)

Duluth trading company fire hose jeans owns all.
Might have to get a pair of those myself. Always did think they were pretty cool back in high school. That was back when big leg piped jeans were cool though...
