Sounds to me like something basic... like the ground wire to the coilpacks, loose connection at the igniter, etc, etc.

I'd take some time to just make sure that what "looks" connected, is actually connected and making good contact. The CPS wires are the trickiest that way. I used to have to "push" the wires thru the connectors, to start my 87T. That finally stopped working, s I had to hardwire them together (tho I shoulda just made individual connectors at each of the 4 wires).

At the least, you need to clean out the spark plug galley and install new valve cover gaskets. replace the POS screws that hold the valve covers on with some bolts. The bolts can be found at home depot/lowes etc.

That could have been the problem, causing the plugs to ground out and no spark.

Start there, you already identified a problem that will come back to bite you in the ass down the road.

Good luck.

yes, definitely check the CPS connector and wiring
if oil is leaking, that definitely will cause problems, like cylinders not firing, because the oil screws up the wires, happened to my supra a while back
if this is the cause, then you will have to replace the valve cover gaskets, and the wireset, could replace plugs too...

it may also be a good idea to retorque your headbolts while your at it...
hope i helped...
