Well, to cut the story short, my girlfriends mom passed away today at 51. They are moving out of the house to stay with relatives, and the house is a rental, and my supra is parked in front, the 88 maroon turbo, with a BHG and half apart motor. So I basically have about 2 weeks to get my supra back on the road or its going to be impounded. So im asking anyone in the monmouth county area, or surrounding, if they could just come over and help with the car. The head is almost off, and i have the gasket set, all the tools, and arp studs all waiting to go in. I just cant do this by myself in this short ammount of time, so anyone who could offer some help whenever during the week, id be willing to call out of work and spend a day working on the car, but if i do it alone itd just be a waste. thanks anyone who offers!!!

It is possible to do a stock head gasket job in <6 hours and do it correctly.

Yeah, one person can do it with 1 day. It took me and one friend about 12 hrs to get a little over half complete engine on a stand back in teh car and fired up. Course took another day of tuning, bug fixes and other things still need to be worked, but this work LOAD is possible. Ive done a HG job in that short amount of time.

But, I have no where to tow it too. This was the place i got it towed too. Im sure i can get the head gasket done and on by myself, its just getting the car running again. I would just to have someone who at least knows what their doing a little around. I guess ill give it a go today then, Im off on sundays. I have most of the deassembly done already, just need to get the HG changed and back together.

If this is your first head gasket, you won't be doing it in 6 hours...........or you will be doing it again soon! Surely if you all are moving out of the house, you gotta be going somewhere. Around here I can have a car towed (on a roll back/wouldn't do it any other way) for about $45. I'd come help if you were closer to me.

The 2 kids (one being my gf) are moving in with relatives(im sure they dont want big maroon car sitting), im getting an apartment or moving into my dads tiny ass house, not much room for my 2 cars. But i got the timing belt and the cams out today(long story why i had to take them out) and im going to have me and my friend pull the head off today or later. Thanks for al the reponses guys, although no takers yet i gained some motivation. Thanks!

bump, wish i could help, where would you be parking it if it was running?

Selling, or at a friends, or maybe one of my relatives. Nobody has a problem with a running car at their house, just not a non running one. The car even has plates and a good insurance card till april (although not valid)

Well hopefully you marked everything as you took it apart. Leave the lower intake manifold attached to the head for leverage. You have to pop it loose from the alignment pegs, and that will help. Try to be sure not to drop the head back down on the way out. Also, take the head bolts out in reverse order in increments to keep from warping it on the way out.

Well, this sucks ass. Sometime within the last week or 2, someone stole all of my toools out of my car. The only things i have are what was under the hood, a ratchet, a hammer, a 10mm socket, the allen key socket for the head bolts, and one adjustable wrench. theres a whole set of crafstman long and short sockets missing, a set of ratcheting wrenchs, a crafstman metric wrench set, a sawzall, 2 30$ ratchets, all my extensions and universals, a long breaker bar, and whatever else i cant even remember that i had. This shit pisses me off, Im not even gona bother trying to buy new tools because i cant afford to. Im gona give the car to my friends dad who is a mechanic and hes gona finish the HG and exhaust that i cant finish now.

Damn........Somebody steals your tools, so you give your car away???????

Sorry, just hard for me to understand. My guess is it has more to do with not having somewhere to put it. Either way, it's gotta suck.

BTW....Where is Long Branch?
