87 Turbo Swap 5-speed.
Had code 52 up until a week ago. Got that fixed. Now this weekend took it out for its first real drive. While driving at about 35 and 55 the tach went from 4,000 to zero then immediatly back up and check engine light came on for a few seconds then went away. Continued driving for about 30 miles, everything was fine.
Check codes: Code 14....
Now I am having an intermitten (sp) code 14.
What I have done so far when problem occurs:
1. Crank engine, will not start. Hook up timing light which confirmed no spark.
2. Checked CPS per TSRM to make sure conitnuity within spec - passed.
3. Check for 12v at ignitor - passed
4. Check that coil packs are grounded properly - passed.
5. When running (idle) I shook all wires around CPS, coil packs and ignitor and ECU - nothing happened.
When the problem happens at idle the engine will die immediatly just as if someone had turned the car off. Sometimes it will restart then die immediatly again. Sometimes it will not restart at all (for several minutes or hours). Last night went to start about 5:30 started then died. Took other car. Got home at 7:30 - still no start and no spark. This morning - starts right up.
WTF??? :dunno:
Is my ignitor bad/failing? I shook all the wires, practicaly the entire engine harness, so I don't thinks its a short in there somewhere.
