Hey guys!

Ive looked EVERYWHERE and get bits and pieces of this but nothing solid that i need.

heres my background on why i need this...

i have a 1989 supra with a 7mge engine that i took out and installed a 1992 7mgte engine into. pretty much a direct swap with the exception of the B1 connector. (its the connector located next to the ecu) it plugs the ecu/wiring harness from the engine to the body harness so that the ignition and fuel system works.

the 89 supra is a bastard year supra because its the transition year between the 88 and 90 supra. my connectors are gray not yellow fyi, seems there are some differences in wiring between the 2 different color connectors.

i really REALLY need the pin out/ write up on how to wire the 2 connectors together. last piece of the puzzle to my swap.

again B1 89 supra gray connector wiring (what wire does what) and 92 supra B1 engine harness connector (what wire does what)

any help is appreciated. ill even paypal money to someone that has the info i need!!

Thanks everyone! and if pics are needed lmk!

I will take a look at this for you tomorrow while I'm @ work if I can remember. I'm not sure if they have the '89 TEWD at the shop but I might be able to get it online through Toyota Information service, and I've got the '91 TEWD so it should be the same as '92 for reference. I'm doing the same thing with a motor from a '91 (and related wiring) into a grey plug '89, so I will eventually need to know this as well! Are you just wanting to know what are the differences between the two years for the same SIDE of the connector (i.e. both male or both female sides of the plugs)?

ya i need to know what wire color/pin on the body side of the b1 clip goes to/what it does and on the engine side of the b1 clip wire color/pin of what They go to. (sounds confusing probably i know haha) so i wire the two together.

the problem is the 91 harness b1 clip is way different than the body harness b1 clip. so you have to cut the b1 clip off the engine harness of the old motor so it can clip in and wire in the wires of the 91 engine harness to it.

i talked to a guy on here and basically he said match up the colors. problem is there are about 6 left over wires going to nothing... and i know they need to go to something. damn confusing and VERY frustrating.

if anyone knows where the wires go to on the engine harness i can just find the wires and wire it in no problem but theres no info i can find about what wire colors go to what. im almost positive that the wires on the engine harness side go to the ecu and from the ecu to what they control.

Your previous post indicated you needed to consult a 89 TEWD. The online one is an 89:

Am I missing something?

I just bookmarked that link, JJ. Wasn't aware that the online one was 89 specific, but that's certainly helpful. I have access through work to TIS(Toyota Information Service), something I was told was Dealer service only, as well as hard copies of the majority of available Toyota service manuals (TEWD's, TSRM's, etc.) That's just worked out to be more convenient for me as I spend most of the day there:)

To the OP, my apologies. It slipped my mind to look this up for you today while at work. Will try again tomorrow.

Understood. Yeah, TIS is nice as long as someone else is paying for it. Odd how the online TSRM is 90 but the TEWD is 89. I think many folks assume they're the same. For all I know they may be and the guy made a mistake. Since I had an 87 I'm not familiar enough to know the difference. They're still handy though.

UPDATE:

ya the 89 is a bastard year supra. it has combinations of the 87 and 90+ years. so a lot of wiring diagrams are just misleading...
I called a friend and got another turbo supra harness that fit my b1 clip and as soon as i plugged everything in... it fired right up. That B1 clip sucks.
