Hey had some unfortunate things happen... Supra water pump froze up so we got a eclipse to drive while we do the engine swap for the supra.. Now the eclipse gave out so I'm back driving the supra. Just regular non-turbo, since we can't swap it this year I'm trying to get it as pleasant to drive as possible. Since I never got the turbo engine in it I got kind of sick of how loud it is with the megan racing cannon muffler it has right now. Want to put something on it that's pretty quiet... The stock muffler was all rusted out and broken so i don't know what it sounded like stock. For example I'd love it to sound somewhat similar to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8uwr47hsXc&list=FLMAjayFxKk-GpZaM4_4ikOQ&index=25. Obviousyl I won't have the turbo sound but it's pretty quiet and nice but you can definitely still hear it when it's going. Any advice at mufflers I should look at? I was looking at some of the quieter flowmasters but they seem to sound terrible on anything but a v8...

Well just tell me what you think. We couldn't afford just to get the one downpipe for my 7mgte so that may tell ya something. Mostly due to a member here selling me a turbo elblow that was cracked up and split open and never refunded me. I've been finding flowmasters like 50 series big muffler dual tips around 70$ on amazon. Looking to just put it back to the stock style. Cannon muffler looks odd on the car.

Mmkay well looks like if I want to go with a walker muffler that isn't a cannon I'd have to go 2.5" inlet which kind of cancels out the 3" exhaust anyways... Getting that exhaust was def a waste of money just the cat was clogged really bad. Walker has those but not as dual tips. My exhaust isn't original anymore, maybe an offset will help them place it on correctly, right now the piece that goes right under the rear axel is almost right on the ground scrapes constantly.

Have an idea of the original muffler dimensions?

Maybe found a Thrush muffler I could use. There are no thrush mufflers that have a side inlet with dual outlets. They have ones with single outlets, but I don't think it matters anymore since my exhaust isn't stock anymore.

http://www.amazon.com/Thrush-17661-...8&qid=1375215896&sr=1-1&keywords=thrush+17661 <- Maybe a decent choice. 2 chambers, they also have turbo mufflers but they are only single outlets.

Here is the .PDF that has all the mufflers if you really want to take a look! http://www.thrushexhaust.com/pdf/thrush.pdf

Kind of narrowed it down but can't make a choice. One would be that I alreayd have, which is a thrust dual chambered muffler but I feel like it would be too loud, held it up to the exhaust wasn't quieter just a different sound.

Another option is this: http://www.amazon.com/Dynomax-17739...375645634&sr=8-8&keywords=dynomax+super+turbo A dynomax super turbo muffler...

And last option is the newer cherry bomb Vortex muffler. http://www.amazon.com/Cherry-Bomb-8...4904&sr=8-1&keywords=cherry+bomb+vortex+88109
Very very quiet but seem to make one odd turbo sound that I"ve seen in some videos of someone had it on a mk4.

Any advice?

There's stock replacement stuff on rockauto...

Honestly there's not a lot you can do to get the same sound as a turbo car. The turbo acts as a muffler on it's own.

I understand I just wanted to get somethign quieter and hopefully get something installed before the long drive to the camping trip next weekend. Turbo motors always sound nicer and quiet lower compression also! I don't know if you're saying I"m trying to make it sound like a turbo but a turbo muffler is just a type of muffler :p I'm thinking of getting the cherry bomb vortex it's super quiet and not really any flow restriction, makes turbos sound really weird and unique but that's awhile off still, just want the car daily drivable and comfortable for awhile. I'll check out summit thanks! I've been just looking on amazon stuff since I have prime which gets me 2 day shipping.

Well made my decision... actually getting that summit one so, thanks for the advice. The dynomax turbo mufflers are too long or too short. And I"ve been told cherry bomb sucks so. Thanks for the tip!

Well got the sumit racing muffler on.... And how the heck do people get their cars so quiet? Mine has a 18" Resonator and that huge summit racing muffler too and my car is just as loud as it was when it had that megan racing canister style muffler. I know mine is louder because it doesn't have the turbo but what does it take to not get headaches after I drive it? Lol I looked at the factory exhaust and it had like 3 mufflers but I don't know where to find those mini mufflers/resonators to fit my pipe.
