So I have decided that I am going to swap a 1JZ-GTE VVT-i into my 91 Supra after my 7M-GTE blew a freeze plug. After a lot of research I've decided the 1JZ VVT-i is the best motor for what I want out of my car.

Now my question is what should I look for when buying this motor in regards to my car and what one would be "easiest" to wire (I know it won't be easy, but which ECU has the most wiring information). I have researched this; however I've found the information to be scattered all over and some contradictory. I know NOT to buy one with ETCS-i and all the ones I've found for sale are front sump, but I already have a line for a rear sump pan from a friend if I need it.

easiest route, send both your harnesses to dr. tweak! :p I'm an electrician and I personally wouldn't have the patience for this even with two schematic diagrams and a lot of time on my hands. Plus I have zero experience in this aspect. As for the rest I'd say make sure you got through the list 2jz swap for dummies, get all your motor mounts, bellhousing ect right and clear your schedule for a few weekends. VVT-I isn't a bad idea it's just not easier. I wanted to put a 2jz into my old supra but I just got a RHD that came with 1jz, but I'm in Canada. But once your done it it will be well worth it (not to mention try insuring a rhd car, christ)

insuring a RHD car is no different. I owned a RHD one when I was in Germany and had USAA insurance. They just needed the VIN and some of the safety features of the car.
