Name those problems! : Boost at idle rev

What are the major known causes of boost being built while just reving?

I have never come accross this before, and now my car runs like sh!t.

Checked for boost leaks, but haven't found any.

I have a faulty HKS EVCIII still hooked up to it, but no so certain thats the main problem.

Reset the timing to 10deg with the terminals hooked up for error codes.

Also, running down the road, you can build 7psi of boost, but the car refuses to go any where, and hits a "rev limit" at around 5k.

I feel like such a newb on this, but need some help guys....

Where is the line for the boost gauge connected?

Have you disconnected the EVC and hooked up from the turbo nipple directly to the wastegate thing?

I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Dan I know it doesn't make any sense, but I can make almost 5psi of boost while sitting there reving the car.

The line for the boost gauge is comming right off the back of the air plennum nipple that toyota used for the stock boost gauge.

The evc is hooked directly up to the nipple from the compressor housing and waste gate nipple.

I have not tried removing the EVC, but that is todays project.

Dan I only found it by accident.

By visual inspection of the lower boost hoses, you couldn't see it. So I tugged on them. Sure enough you could hear the sound of fabric ripping... the lower boost hose was toast.

16lbs sure is fun!
