Ok- This has been said before, and it will probably be said again. If someone makes a post asking what they can do to get more power out of an NA, don't reply with "go turbo". It doesn't help the person get any closer to their goal, and it just annoys everyone else. Thanks.

cold air intake. Upsize the exhaust from the header down. There aren't too many things you can really do. Walbro fuel pump. There are more tricks to make the car efficient and run it's peak gammet than to upsize the hp. Lower suspension springs. If you want more hp..., you need a turbo. The na is hot without it. Although I wouldn't mind having one. I just don't want to have to work on one.

smaller wheels and tires make you faster out of the hole but you lose top end.

Bigger tire slower car, more top end.

Pull the head and have it ported and polished. anywhere from 300 to 500 bucks.

I plan to do a rear seat delete but I have to get the kids old enough that i won't need it. Or buy another ride. We have a blazer as well. If you haven't looked into the spare tire compartment you need to do so anyway. The jack that came with the car is a bloody joke. Ditch it. Get a real one in the garage. At minimum 4 tons. And that will wobble.

All of this has been covered in a thread on this forum before so it's kind of pointless, but I feel the need to rant.

I personally find it frustrating reading the "getting power out of an NA" threads that have NO new info, just uniformed kids that refuse to go to other websites or use the search button on supramania. Do something productive, try some things yourself...contribute information, offer constructive thinking towards a subject...if you can't do that then READ! All the things that can be done to an NA supra apply to any car, and to anyone that is somewhat experienced with cars would know what can be done. These uninformed people that are asking uniformed questions NEED to hear that their goals can’t be achieved with simple NA tuning. They NEED to hear the word “turbo” to help them avoid spending unreasonable amounts of money for mediocre results. I think those that get angered/frustrated by hearing “go turbo” in their threads should get out of denial and do more research…consider it because frequently it is the right direction to go. It’s quite obvious the type of people that have done their homework….look at defiant 7m’s thread for instance, nobody told him to go turbo or that he was an idiot (atleast not in mass) because he has done his research, has high, well thought out goals, and has invested the time and money into guaranteeing they can be achieved.

I have a mildly modified NA 5m in my mk2, and am building a 7mge. I am by no means a turbo junkie. The point of forums is to help others gain knowledge, you need to be aware that the answers to some questions won’t be what you want to hear. Consider it tough love.

Balanced bottom end, hi comp pistons, ported head, cams, intake, extractors, exhaust, throttle body, ecu meh the same as any NA engine just cost a bit more because parts are hard to come by. It helps I bought a car that had 90% of this stuff done.

People say I'm crazy for working/spending money on a 7mge, then I take them for a drive and their face generally looks like this:D

When you crack the throttle and there is instant response and can sit in top gear from 50kmph/30mph and still be able to accelerate is where a 7mge comes into its own.

weird. I typed in a post and it put it as reply #12, very strange.

I'm over my rant now. it's still the way I feel though.

I read the thing and it read to me unless I have wires crossed, like he wanted to know what to do to his ride. Obviously I had it messed up but it's all good man chillax as figit says. I like my na. I like not having to finger fu&k turbo crap all of the time. And if my na gets to be too slow. I'll by something else.

I'm not going to have my car beating up on it self because I didn't want a turbo and now I do. I have never had good luck with turbo's. Especially 4 cyl+t. It's like kicking a hamster in the ass and telling it to go faster when it's giving you all it has anyhow.

like I said, some people have reasons to be NA (like myself), but for many, it would be in there best interest to go turbo.

my last little outburst related to nobody reading the thread. both you and the creator of this thread discussed how this is NOT a thread about upgrade paths, and two more people ignored the enitre content of this thread and continues to post their own adviceon how to run modify an NA.....advice he didn't want. Not only are people lacking understanding of info that is on hear and failing to look for it, they also CHOOSE to not read any of the content it seems!

I'm not going to argue with you or anything. But hey, it was a communication breakdown. Cool??? Can we get back to cars Now?

I for one try to read all of the post before I set it to type. Because honestly not reading an entire post has bitten me in the ass. So I feel ya, man.
