Hey guys, I've been thinking about NA-Ting my JDM GE, which has 38k miles on it. What would be the prep work I need to do before turboing it to make it as bulletproof as possible? Can the WS8 tranny and stock clutch handle 300HP? I've heard one weakness of the JDM motors are the bearings. Anyone have any input on this?

headgasket should be checked, stock w58 clutch will not handle 300hp

im running 10 psi on stock headgasket w/ ARPs and so far its holding. i have a trd clutch which is not taking the power unfortunately.

Im in the same boat with ya, im making plans to go na-t and i would like to see 300whp out of my set up. As far as "bulletproofing" the motor, I agree get a metal headgasket(2mm)/arp's and look into a upgraded clutch for the w-58.Make sure your oil pump is healthy and get the best tuning software u can afford. With highcompression, detonation is my main concern.

I am using the centerforce dual friction for the W58. It holds power all the way to 14 psi on my ct26-60, which is probably a little over 300 whp. Anything more than that and it slips. Transmission should be good to 400+ whp, just don't abuse it.
