i recently did the same thing. you have some questions to ask yourself before you do it though. the easiest way to do it is to get a jdm engine with a complete wiring harness and ecu included with the engine. if you don't get an ecu and wiring harness then you have to hook the egr system up to the jdm engine. if you do that you have to reuse the american intake manifold (upper and lower) and throttle body. you are going to do put some simple things like move the engine mounts that are on the engine but the holes are already there, the throttle cables have a holder that you have to put a left hand drive on and take the rhd off, and thats pretty much it as far as i can remember. so putting it in is pretty easy and straight forward. just about everything else bolts straight up. if you have any issues or questions hit me up and i'll help the best i can.

also while the engine's out, switch your oil pressure sender if you still want your oil pressure gauge to work..

you'll also have to redo your heater hoses, as they're on the opposite side...

i got mine with out the haness and ecu from a place online delivered to my house and everything within 10 days or so of me ordering it and it came with a 6 month unlimited mile warranty. but i forgot to mention that you have to change out for the stock oil pan and oil pump that ain't hard. i don't have mine running yet but its my cars fault not the engine at all. i might have to get a new ecu or coil/igniter to get mine baby running. but it aint hard just plan out how much you want to spend on it and all that. i mean your going to need to get the common stuff like oil, antifreeze, sparkplugs. and i would suggest changing stuff out like the timing belt, all the other belts, plug wires, and other simple things like that before you put it in.

well i wanted to rebuild my 7m but one of the water jackets on the head looked pretty jacked and the head gasket did not looked blown and one of the piston walls looked pretty bad...so i was wanting to find a better motor...do you guys think it would be cheaper to rebuild my motor or try to find another 7m???

to answer that question you have to decide exactly what parts you want to replace and which one you have to replace. the average price for a good jdm engine with harness and ecu is about a grand shipped to you and sitting on your door step. but that doesn't include other parts like if you wanted to change the hg, other gaskets, plus oil, anitfreeze and all that. granted your going to need some of that stuff no matter what. but it all comes back to what you want to do and how much your budget can cover. so if i was you i would start pricing parts and then think about it.

I got my JDM long block for $350, with installation and a 6 month warranty, tune-up, new radiator and motor mounts, it was $1200, so it's very economical if you look at the right places..

I went thru 2 JDM motors that were in sad shape, warranty on those usually means they will ship you another if the motor has problems. Finally rebuilt the original motor after changing out the 2 JDMs. Ended up getting part of my money back with a spare parts motor.

You should tear a JDM motor down, new oil pump, water pump, those and some other things they say in the warranty, and have everything checked which means rebuilting pretty much anyway.

Some have had good luck with them, I didn't and would have saved a lot of money, time, and a lot of irration. Only way I would buy another would be to need another to rebuild.

yeah as far as i know everything else pretty much fits i had problems with my us power steering pump on the jdm but it might have just been me. i think i had the jdm bracket on and tried to use the us pump and the bracket didn't fit so i just threw on the jdm one.
