There is only so far you can take a 3.0l I6 in NA form, probably just at 300-350whp with higher compression and longer stroke, full exhaust, great tune and an intake.

Well, yeah, if you want to keep it simple. And thats pretty good for just those few things. But I meant, like anyone that has done some major engine work to get more horsepower and actually tried to make a lot of horsepower on just motor.

Defiant I don't think has got his running yet I'm sure we would have known about it.

Does anybody know the highest rated RWHP NA while we are on the subject?

215 & 207 so far here :) Hope the next will be better.

In the exhaust design thread he has running, there is a link that has n/a engines rated as high as 5HP/CC, at 18,000RPM. Not all n/a engines are lame.

Most boosted engines are based off of n/a engines like the 7M too.

As for our N/A engine I'm sure we could achieve more than 400 at the wheels, but it would be absurdly expensive.

There are Z car guys making ~270rwhp on stock 12V SOHC heads on top of a 3.1l stroker motor (L28 2.8l base), I don't understand why a 7M can't do the same or similar from a decent stroke increase, nasty cams and some serious port work.

I thought Defiant7M was real close at one point, like weeks away from completing...and then nothing. I thought maybe he had problems when it came time to light it off and subsequently abandoned it.

If someone wanted to do some custom ITB's or maybe even some big carbs Im sure 300-400 hp would be quite doable, but not cheap.

what was it, oh yea no replacement for displacement..

so in the n/a world, pour massive money into it and have decent power output for a 7m.

I find that figure hard to believe, even at there peak f1 engines in V10 form were reving to 20,000rpm and 1000hp. That is still only 1hp per 3cc, I would like to see a link to a 5000hp 1 liter N/A engine.
