So on my 88 N/A i have the 4.30 LSD rear end, it is toast(LSD is now open diff) i am going to be buying a new diff today, it is the 3.91 LSD.

My question is, will this still be okay? I know it will probably get rid of a bit of accel and give me more top speed but, Im just wondering if the 7mge and w58 will be able to cope with the diff?

You should be ok, The car may bog more taking off than before and you will see a gas milage change, probably for the worse. maybe -1 mpg? Low horsepower cars usualy have higher gear ratios to get the car in a more suitible powerband. Put it in and if you dont like how it feels then swap it out again.

I doubt if you will see more top end.
You need big HP to pull taller gears, and a GE just does not have it.
And +1 for maybe worse mileage. (for the same reason)

Well, I got the diff in. took about an hour and a half to do it on my own.

Doesn't seem bogged down at all, I'm still able to spin the tires and drift in 2nd gear, speedo is only off by a bit. There is no more shaking car when i let off of the throttle at over 100km/h(thank god! that was getting scary!!)

All is good, no leaks. Guy i bought it off says it was basicly just rebuilt and I checked the fluid...brand new! :-D
