Ok all you n/a guys, Im sure there are a few of you that want to get the max out of there W58s so I need some Input.

Competition clutch: States that there n/a clutch for the 7MGE will hold 250% more than a stock clutch will and good for over 500hp.

Straight from there website:
1620
Stage 4 - Strip Series 1620 Clutch Kit
This assembly, available with a double spring, six rivet carriage is good for ease of gear transition with higher horsepower. This disc complimented by a performance pressure plate provides 250% increase in torque capacity. 300 mile break-in recommended with this set-up.

The 1620 Series kit includes a performance pressure plate, a six puck high torque sprung disc with Ceramic buttons, all applicable bearings, and the appropriate alignment tool.

Clutchmaster Clutch: Drjones proven clutch as he was in the High 400s with this setup before his tranny (W58) went.

Straight from there website:
FX400 (Stage IV)

· Ultra heavy-duty street &racing system
· Holding capacity 170% over stock
· Heavy-Duty reinforced pressure plate
· Hi-Leverage™ pressure ring design
· Sprung hub/4-button
· Ceramic friction material
· SFI Approved on most race applications.

Price on the Competition clutch is $395.00 (from there site)
Price on the Clutchmaster clutch is $565.00 (from there site)

Which clutch do you think would be better as both have the 4 puck or 6 puck options at not additional charge. Im going to get one of the other, Just wondering why one is 170% more torque and cost $170 more than the one that is $250 more torque capacity.

stage 3?? i would go with the competition because they are cheap but if you are gonna be abusing the tranny than the clutchmaster would be safer because they are well known and well respected and if they are sponsered in need for speed then you know they must be reliable.

Ok, Anyone else have any recommendations.

Im not going to be ripping on the tranny, It will see track use more than it does now once I move up to the PNW so I want something thats going to hold and hold well.

I wouldn't buy either for an NA. There is no way you could be putting out enough power to need a clutch that strong. Unless you do track days every weekend either one would be overkill. Here's what I would do:

1. Call Southbend clutches
2. Buy a stage 1 or 2 clutch.
3. ???????
4. Profit

They're cheaper than either option you listed and are quite dependable.

I guess I need to pull out my Dyno sheet then, Im putting down 461hp at 17psi on a W58.

The reason Im asking for recommendation is that this 7MGTE engine is in a MK2 Supra and not a MK3 and Im still using the Stock W58 Tranny that comes on All MK2s. Havent done a R154 Conversion as of yet and I actually like the W58 over the R154 anyways.

aahhhhhhh well that's completely different then. Your original post said you were looking for an NA clutch, you didn't say you were turbo. In that case I would still call Southbend. Their Stage 3 clutch is rated for 520ft-lbs of torque. Of the two you listed I would go with the competition clutch.

I still need a 7MGE clutch for the W58. Im currently running a centerforce Dual friction clutch for the 7MGE and Since I did alot of Upgrades its starting to not like it so much. This is the reason Im looking for somethng that will hold more power. I understand that this is a Turbo engine but I dont have the time to d a R154 Swap so I just staryed with the W58.

Yeah, I looked on there website and the best thing that they had for the n/a since this is a W58 Tranny was rated at 390ft pounds of torque and this was in there stage 5 setup.

Havent blown any as of yet and I take it to the Track, I dont launch by poping the clutch like most do and I only launch around 3200-3500 rpms.

well to answer a little question you had about the clutches either 4 puck or 6 puck. heres the difference a 4 puck will grab harder than a 6 puck because there are only 4 contact areas sounds weird but it is true and a 6 puck will grab better than a completely round disc.
