 My speedo started bouncing around for about 5 seconds and suddenly went dead. I figured the cable broke so I bought a new one and proceeded to install it. Cable went in smoothly enough but when I was removing the old cable where it enters the transmission a little piece fell out that looked alot like a valve stem seal so I shoved it back up there and I hooked up the new cable. Guess what?... no worky. I tried reinstalling the business end into the trans and so far I can't get it to work. Anyone got any ideas? I'm pretty sure it has somthing to do with the little "valve stem seal" looking thing. I should mention that this is going in to an automatic transmission. Thanks in advance!

I've confirmed it's definitely in the transmision end of the speedo but I can't find a schematic or anything in the Toyota or Hanes maunuals that tells me what I need to know. I sure would appreciate anyone who is knowledgable on this to clue me in. WHAT IS IN THE TRANS THAT GOES SOUTH CAUSING THE SPEEDO TO DIE? HOW DO I FIX IT? HELP!
