just came across the hottest mk3 this side of the world... (well not me personally)

full on bodykit, ffi, garrett gt35/40, 23psi, 19" chromies

but anyway

she's blown her headgasket 3 times this year :(

arp's, mhg, bf is an engineer and does her machine work for her

(she works for mermaid bar... strip joint... just for you boys :naughty: )
but she sounds pretty cool!!!

so... she runs 23psi
aftermarket ecu

and keeps blowing her hg

any ideas why?

i'm thinking is she using cometic and not removing the rivet?
detonation?

i can't really think of much as to reason why it's blowin hg's

any other ideas ya all can throw in there

Thanks :D

I was going to say "maybe her boyfriend sucks as a machinist". Maybe he's not lapping the block and head properly? Maybe he's not lapping it at all. Maybe he's not checking the RA [roughness average] after the machine work? What about machining the timing cover to match the block? I also hope they aren't torquing to Toyota's specs on the head..

Bad tuning, improper machine work, or bad gaskets are the only three options I can think of.
That is what I imagined as well.

...it's tuned with aftermarket ecu, built with forgies...
Only thing else I wondered about was if "forgies" meant forged pistons and if the new pistons were of a higher compression.
So Suze, what is the compression of the new pistons? Still the stock CR?
I would think that too high a CR would be a cause of detonation. (If that is her case.)
