first off, the supra was rod knocking, it was low on gas so i was gonna drive it about 3 miles to get some gas in it.
it drove fine till i got to a stop sign, when i mashed in the clutch the engine stumbled, then died. i tried to crank it, but it acted like it had a dead battery. but i never keep a battery in it, i always take it out and charge it. it attempted to turn over, then all the lights in the car dimmed and the rotation of the motor stoped.

i attempted to have it jumped off, it did the exact same thing. kinda like... it didn't get enough power to keep turning the motor over.

had it towed back to my house, i don't know what to check. it had plenty of fuel, so im guessing its something electrical. any help or comments would be wonderful. :1zhelp:

Thank you for your time

-battery cables both ends clean them with sand paper or brush and put back on

-grounding wires under fuse box

-cables going to starter

-fuses all of them

or it could be your starter getting stuck. or dying.

pull your spark plug wires and reonnect and check connections

::edit:: could also be your selenoid sticking, put it in r and roll it back a bit. and smack your selenoid with an extension a little bit see if it knocks it loose. it happened to me in the middle of nowhere, then just change your starter if that was it.

report back.

I dont know what you used to try and jump it with, but low buck cables are usually thin, and dont flow as much amps. So the discharged battery will not jump. Check those things he said to check too.

the fuse box behind the battery , and the one next to the clutch pedal.

is there any other fueses anywhere?

also i used 8gauge jumper cables, also i have treid 2 different batteries 1 that i know was full charged

Thank you very much for the help

you said it was rod knocking?? how bad and how long? drain your oil and run a magnet through it you could have spun a bearing or something that would lock it up. if its got rod knock you have a ways to go before the car runs right

I read the post and that was exactly what I was thinking.

Why even try to start it? You're just going to do damage at this point.

Don't wait until you have a rod sticking out the side of the block! :3d_frown: :3d_frown:

the ALT fuse, its in the fues box behind the battery? 100A fuse? or is there another one as well?

i had tiem to mess with it again today, and there is no spark comming from the coils. i got a spark tester that u stick into teh end of the spark plug wires, i tested the 1st and teh 6th cyl, and nothing.

as well.. i did notice that hot and ground wires going to the starter got warm after attempting to start the car twice... normal? :icon_conf

also checked the grounds at teh fues box, and the one on teh back of the motor....

any ideas of what else i can check? :1zhelp:

the car is sitting on a hill, i can't roll it back to see if its the selenoid.. is there another way to check it? or should i buy a new one? lol

thanks so much for your help guys
