ok so here is how it went , sometime in august i picked her up from some guy on the other side of town, when i took her for a spin she had the "birdcage" rad light but he insisted it just needed a new rad cap.....and me being the stupid kid that doesnt know anything about supra's decided to believe him so 3800 canadians later i go the car then i got a rad cap from toyota but no difference so took it into the shop and found out it was a ::bhg:: so after about 2500 bucks at the shop for the head gasket job i decided to drive her to vancouver , once i get there drive it around for a few days and guess what i heard!!! a rod knock!!! yes thats right 3 days after spending 2500!!! , so put it in my cousins garage and started rippin her apart and with the help of JK motors in richmond i found a JDM 7mgte with "low kms" so picked it up for 900 without the turbo and had an awsome time figuring out how the 7mgte works but in the end im happy with it and plan on driving it everyday! here are some pics i took tonight :

swapped JDM 7m:

haha, I'm tryin to teach him to do everything himself. He found out the hard way (like I did).. that supras are a VERY expensive habbit if you are getting shops to do all the work for you.

Stayed tuned next spring for some group shots and some videos!

so put it in my cousins garage and started rippin her apart and with the help of JK motors in richmond i found a JDM 7mgte with "low kms"

I'd be careful of that motor, I bought one from them and it came with a BHG and threw a rod shortly after I fixed the HG. I would never deal with them again, hopefully your motor is better then mine was :3d_frown:

ya as soon as i got the motor from JK i ripped the head off just incase and found a recently done clean head gasket, but still i wanted to be sure i wouldnt get another head gasket so i used my old head off my 7m with the bad bearing because about a week before the bearing went the head was machined when the head gasket was done so in the end no blue smoke and no choclate milky coolant from the JDM 7m!

Good to hear, that's what I should have done. I wish I hadn't been in such a rush to get the car together (I had to move in 2 days)

I miss Kelowna :wtc:

What kind of hg? Metal? Torqued how many lbs? I'm sure fiyota led you down the correct path. Should be enjoying that supra.

I lent one of my supras to the ex's friends daughter to drive and she called me up and told me that the rear tires were messed up, so I went to look and they looked like that last picture shortly thereafter a perfectly good engine had rodknock.I suspect a lame ass boyfriend doing crazy ass burnouts.:3d_frown:

- actually i met fiyota before i got my supra then once i bought it he saw me on the highway and we both pulled over and talked about it, then about 3 days later i blew a head gasket in kelowna then once i got the shop to fix it which i wish i didnt do, it got rod knock as soon as i drove it to vancouver in the next few days so i ended up doing it at my cousins house in abbotsford after being fed up with bills from the shop and well all my brown cousins and buddys in vancouver all drive honda's so once we popped the hood it seemed like a rubix cube , but we took our time and did it carefully getting tips from forums all around and i used just a regular fel-pro head gasket and stock head bolts and torqued it to about 75ft , i havent had any problems with it since then but i do wish that i went with ARP instead of stock 20 year old hardware and if i had the time and money i would have probably went cometic for the head gasket, but i havent had any problems i normally give it a good hard run most of the time with 10psi and its holding up fine, but ya fiyota has helped me bring me beast back into life , i actually had a code 52 the whole time i had the car but i had no idea how to check for anything but now we have it running liek a dream and since code 52 is gone im not killing myself on the inside by losing to sunfire's off the line.....i know i know i cry everytime before i go to bed....damn 2.4's

oic, we jsut assumed it was suprafest because it was parked beside other supra's and now the only supra's you see in town are fiyota's grey ghost and my blue bomber lol..well its not to bad now that i finally lowered it :)
