To start this story off i will tell you i bought my 89 supra turbo off ebay. BAD IDEA! So i buy the car and i am in colorado, the car is in california so we fly out to get it. we get there the guy picks us up from the airport, hes really nice to us, the car looks really clean both mechanical and body. we pay for the car and head on our way back to colorado. all is well so far. On the trip back i stop at a gas station and check the oil and such. the oil does not even show on the dipstick. the oil was full in cali so i figured there was a leak so i get under the car, no leaks whatsoever. i didnt think it would burn that much in that amount of time either so i just put oil in it and keep going about 300 miles later i do the same, check the oil. again the dipstick shows nothing. honestly i was stumped i didnt know what was going on. finaly we get the car back to colorado. about five days later, i get horrible rod knock. so i take it to get a new engine, no big deal, i only payed 1200 dollars for the car anyways. as they are doing the engine they find where all the oil was going during the trip. the turbo was shot and was sucking the oil through the turbo and into my intercooler. so now i had to get a turbo too. the car gets all fixed and i pick it up. about a month later we get a letter from the DMV telling us to give the plates and registration back. The fucker who sold me the car said the car had a salvage title, which we figured was no problem we could apply for a lost or stolen title, no big deal. turns out the title was switched to junk a month before he sold it to us. (JUNK: never to be driven or registered in the state of colorado) MESSED UP!:icon_evil

Damn that really sucks. I know about those VIN inspections and the waiting, my car was in impound for 6 months and the waiting was horrible. It's worth it in the end when everything is legal and yours for good.

Really uncool ab out the turbo and engine though, best of luck to you.

yeah i agree with all of you. at least i now have a supra. I think i still got a pretty good deal on it so im not too mad, i paid 1200 dollars for a pretty flawless car. i do wish i could fly out there and kick his ass, but since we bought the car, we cannot get a hold of him. The only reason why i bought it without test driving it was i had troubles finding one close to denver, and i was on a time limit to buy a car so i took my chances.

Yep..I know how you feel...I bought mine w/out driving it...it wouldn't start, had it towed 70 miles home, got it running...BAM!!! BHG and blown turbo...:(
so i guess it's time to post my story :)

it's way too long tho, so in cliffs

bought 87 turbo targa for 2,000
my sis was driving it hard + developed bad bhg = no coolant
she drove it till it wouldn't and black smoke was pouring out (i wasn't there)
park the car in front of my house till i can fix it
hit and run w/ a tahoe
i had a piece of the car that hit me + their plates + they filed a hit and run the same day they hit my car... they got away scot free

move to 89 turbo

bought the 89 turbo targa in hickory from a toyota dealer for 6,500
test drove it, looked it over... excellent condition 104k miles, yada yada
clutch went after 1 week
kept overheating for NO reason
replaced entire cooling system
got rod knock after driving the car for 2 weeks (cause still undetermined)
parked it for 9 months while i got/worked on a jdm motor

this all took place from my age of 16-17 :icon_evil

so pretty much, i feel your pain, shit happens :dunno:
