My 1998 4runner haves a blown head gasket or cracked head.
My brother haves a SC400 with a 1UZ V8 that he just got a soarer clip for.

Complete project is on the way with pics my plan is to build one of the fist V8 1998 4runners with a V8 keeping the 4X4 geartrain.

Mean while I am putting a soarer clip in my brothers SC400 so far all is going well with the swap even though he haves the same issues as the JDM harness is shorter then the US version I am doind the swap with out extending the harness at all using the technique done with supras.

My brother just sold both of his supras for 200-300 because he planned to build a JZA70 setup with a couple free supras he got they were both 89s the problem is the JZA clips soared to well over 3000 in just about 5yrs.

So my brother decided to ditch the supras and bought 2 lexus 1 GS300 for 1000, 1 SC400 for 800 he found a soarer clip for under half what you would pay for a supra so I am kind of surprised no one have cought onto this and started building the crap out of SCs

I am going to present photos and documents of my swap here if anyone else haves info on this topic feel free to post.

the second batch

basicaly everything lines up and works

All I could tell must be done
is add the electric fan wires connector 30 amp fuse add the abs sensor and mini harness and remap the wiring in a couple connectors maybe no more then 5-10% wiring remap to put the soarer engine in the sc400.

As far as the connectors reaching again no problem at all you could see where i drilled the hole and ran the wires over the tunnel.

New update & news on the project engine swap is done all the wiring mates up with almost no modifications you have to add wires and switch them around
But this is the first 1JZ-GTE swap into a SC400 Running drivable wth a couple wires deleted added re-located but all done with out extending the harness here is the details

My brother purcased a SC400 for only $800 candy apple red 1993 the original V8 haves ~200K miles on it the Soarer is a 1992-1994 Twin Turbo 1JZ-GTE non traction control non VVTI every thing works ABS every feature and light The soarer half clip cost around ~2000 so for around 2800-3000 it is possible to build this mean machine!

Got his soarer running solid.
It needs a new water pump no biggy but eats tires like there is no tomarrow.

Right now I am merging technology from 2 different types of A340s into 1 adding the 4x4 controls for the 4x4 ecu into the transmission harness I am also adding the post CAT O2 sensors into the transmission harness(because SC400 runs them through the car instead of engine harness) redirecting alot of the forward junction box EFI wires to the rear body plug connectors like the 5VZ engine was.

But other then that wiring should be done shortly should be dropping the engine in soon.

Engine now haves new platnum plugs synthetic oil. Performance Stainless headers new plug wires caps rotors converted from traction control to non EGR block off mode but so that it doesnt code be feeding the same sensor through the stepper motor control but not into the intake.

Many Many mods it the works or done.

I noticed the differences thank you for the offer in help I'll let you know if anything is needed.
The couple mods I did to the engine is I deleted traction control.
Routed all the wires around the intake instead of bolted to it in the middle.
I deleted the Hydro fan & went mechanical.

& here is the current pictures of the V8!

By the way this is the engine that should have come in the 4runners all of them!

there's also the a341 that comes on some of the lexus's. some of the parts off of those might be usefull to you also. I have a couple laying around if you need pix to see the differences.

I fixed one of the differences right now!
The SC400 brain looks for a clutch input speed.
The 4runner auto haves a 50% cast through hole with mounting 10mm screw hole.
I piloted the hole with a 14mm to drill it out 100% into the tranny then finished it out with a smooth factory spec 15mm for the sensor mounting/fitting/sealing.
Tada sensor is now mounted.
