My Plans...

Ok... I have a 1987 Toyota Supra Turbo. At the moment, its parked because of a broken clutch slave cylinder, and break master cylinder. I figured that since I had to park it, I might as well fix all of its problems to try to limit the amount of head aches ill have later on.

Its current lists of mods are:
HKS 1.2mm MHG (Blown)
Port and Polished Head
Resealed motor @ 60,000mi (currently around 70,000mi)
Royal Purple 15w40
K&N Performance Gold Oil Filter
Cooleez Turbo Inlet Hard Pipe
Lipp High Flow Turbo Elbow
Aftermarket Air Filter
Koyo Radiator
Megan Racing Down Pipe
3 inches back to tip w/ 1 catalitic
W58 Transmission w/ stock clutch and flywheel
No EGR or Emissions

Well as listed above, the head gasket blew... Since i can't drive the car, I atleast start it up and let it idle, warm up... well since the fan clutch is a peice of crap, no air passed by, and the temperature went up... Long story short, my Koyo's empty and theres fluid in my head... nothing in my oil pan tho... Im concidering getting a 60,000mi 7M-GTE w/o the turbo, (its stock and supposedly wasn't mistreated), re-sealing the motor, putting another HKS 1.2mm MHG on it, and just throwing it in like that. Leaving it at 10psi and fixing the other problems it has such as springs, intercooler piping, and its slipping clutch... Im also throwing on some FAL Twin Electric fans w/ an HKS Fan Controller (<--- anyone know if this is good?) and an Apexi Super AFCVII... I figured that since i've upgraded the intake and exaust and am goign to fix the boost leaks, I should atleast try to get the car to run stoich/rich as oppsed to running lean. Anyone think this is a good plan? Im concerned about the fuel issue... I know im fixing all the air flow problems and im wondering if this will cause me to run lean @ 10psi. That and this supra's in for a road trip (miami, fl 2 waco, tx) and I dont want to have any surprises. Opinions, tips, idea's... :1zhelp:

i've only heard good things about the electric fans and controller... i think it actually flows more cfm than the stocker... also, i dunno how you would run lean @ 10 psi?

Any of you know how to tell if a motors been damaged or not because of a blown head gasket? Theres no knocking (aside from the usual lifter tap), If i start the car and dont rev it at all, it wont smoke (if i tap the gas then the smoking starts when the motor is warm). The car wasn't moving when the head gasket blew. I dont think that my motors damaged. I might just be able to reseal mine, replace the head gasket, and I can continue my previouse plans.... Only real difference between the other motor and mine is that mine only has 10,000 more miles on it. I've been thinking about flushing my motor out about a good 2-4 times, resealing it, putting the head gasket, and it saves me the $550 in buying the other 7M. Im gonna compression test my motor befor pulling it later on... I've also heard that MHG's are bad for turbo cars because of the heat generated by the motor... That the head gasket can shift because of this... I have my doubts, but does anyone know about this?

hmm

out of all the mod list

i see absolutely no mention of the BASIC maintance items.

What I mean by that, hose replacement (remember 13 + year old hoses tend to fail at the most inopportune time), Oil cooler line replacements, heater hose replacements etc. Pointless to have a modded motor if you still running the 13+ year old OEM brittle crap.

Well I think I should have included what was done to the Supra befor I got it back... The motor is a 60,000 mile JDM 7M-GTE, It was re-sealed, ported, polished, has a HKS 1.2mm MHG and it was thrown back in. I owned the Supra befor Ray (the guy that sold it to me this time). It was my first car, cost us $300, and I didn't know shit about cars at the time. My dad didn't really help either. The lower Radiator Hose blew, and since only the Tachometer and boost gauges worked, the motor blew... The radiator hoses are good, all vacuum hoses are good. Intercooler piping is the only one that hasn't been changed... The factory CT-26 Turbo has been rebuilt (courtesy of MIC Turbo in Miami, Fl) and the Turbine has been enlarged. Ray spent over $7000 at Speed Shop getting the motor dropped in and all the work done (extremely over priced, they kept damaging parts and charging for replacments). It has no shocks [I have KYB's on my Targa Shell that'll be installed on my Daily(hasn't had for 5 years)] and id imagine that she springs are gone too. The LSD also leaks gear oil from the oil seal (theres a good one on the Targa as well). I started off with this car as my first one ever, I got it back so I might as well finish with it.
