Does anyone know what engine would be a good idea to put into an 87 Pontiac Fiero? Something cheap and kinda good on gas mileage would be nice!

You can ask this guy. I can't remember his name but it's just one guy and all he does is Fieros and he does a bunch of them. I remember getting into a conversation with him about the various engines that can be swapped into the Fiero and I am pretty sure he can just about everything that has ever been put in one.

I saw an electric fiero at a car show on the weekend. That would be really cheap on gas. And it was still a 5 speed.

I actually have a Grand Prix GTP and it IS good on gas. I can average over 25 MPG back and forth to school. Put that engine in a car that weighs considerably less and it will get GREAT fuel mileage. Especially if he uses the manual tranny from a Cavalier.

Ummm fiero's are ugly and handle poorly, most suffer electrical issues. I'd say if you're dead set on one then swap to a V8 and gut all unneccesasary parts
