I can afford it, I just can't find one used.
Theres plenty on craigslist for the SF bay area.

Suprahoops...nice guitar. Ive always thought of getting one but never did. I gigged with my Les Paul Standard + Mesa Dual Recto and I cant beat that combo. I went thru the 7 sting phase a long time ago. Have a ESP 7 string that has collected dust and is probably warped and damaged beyond repair because its been sitting in the hot garage :(

Yea tone is highly subjective to your personal tastes.
Different people want different things.
Absolutely love the tone from the Les Paul run thru my JCM 800 half stack, but for gigs where you cant overdrive the tubes so much because its all mic'd, the dual recto shines thru with its ability to provide better distortion at lower levels. I never set the gain too high because I do believe there is a balance of clean and distortion which is why I loved the orange channel with mids scoped high

gibson SG. all black/brushed aluminum pick guard, played through a mesa/boogie triple rectifier half stack. three channels, clean, semiclean, and distortion, along with a solo button for a bit of extra boost.

and i've got a taylor 110 acoustic. (sounds REALLY good for being taylor's cheapest at about $700)
