my new 1J Vs. a Acura RSX

Well i was out just cruising around in the nice cool night air. A guy puls up behind me. I think nothing of it. As i head on to the highway i lost sight of him. Then before i know it. He's Behind me again almost tail gating me So i pulled to the right Then the Guy does a Ricer Fly by a little Further on.

So i figured what the hey. I'll go catch up with him.

Now were side by side. Nice open highway in front of us with no one around. So we go for it. He got the jump on me but i started catching up happy me. Then we come up on Traffic.

Once we loose the Traffic by Safely navigating it and taking it easy, he gives me the 3 honks (Stupid me I was in the wrong Gear ) LOL can you tell i dont do this much. I Shifted Down to Third. And Gunned it. I started to catch up and shifted to 4th. We are going pretty fast But then he started to loose me Just after that i hit the Speed cut of the ECU

Later on we got off and we both went to the local gas station. From what he told me and i could tell from briefly looking. He just had your Basic V-Tec Honda Engine for the RSX and a Full Exhaust and header system with no cat from what he told me. I could swear i heard a Whine coming from his car like a Super charger or a Turbo in need or some serious help. But when i looked under that hood i saw nothing

It was fun thought i would post it up.

Edit BTW My mods are a HKS Filter and Full 3" with a HKS Turbo Exhaust and no Cat but Stock Y-Pipe

I have a buddy of mine that has an Acura rsx. I pretty much own him, but it runs good for a four cylinder. He can outrun stock mustang GT's with it. He has some motor that he bought from Japan. He got a whole clip that he paid six thousand dollars for. He's thinking about either putting a turbo or a supercharger on it. He ran a 9.22 at the 1/8 mile track.

Well at least i now now they are quick Cars. But it just makes me want to make more of mine so it can live up to it's name

id be embarrassed. i used to smoke rsx's all day long with my rebuilt 7m at ~12 pounds of boost on the stock turbo.

if my 1jz is that slow id be pretty damn upset.

What's up with everyone getting beat by a RSX lately?

P.S. Some old guy in the newish thunderbird tried racing me on the way to wally world. The 1j raped him in first and it was all over for him after that.

Seems a bit low for a type s with just intake and exhaust. I ran a 14.1 @103 with an 02' type-s with a greddy turbo it and stock clutch. Spun like a mofo though.

I am embarrassed.

My 1J has good Compression but i do not have any tunning what so ever. I have no idea if that RSX guy did or not. In My Defense i did screw up on the second run and he got a huge jump on me.

Well as soon as i take care of other things on car it will be time to start tweaking things i think

The top pic is the stock engine bay, second is with the comptech supercharger, third one is the greddy turbo kit. Any look familiar?

Well now i can say he did not have a stock Engine either because it looked noting like these setups, Similar but not like these setups at all. i could swear the Exhaust was on the front side of the Engine as it looked exactly like a header but now that i think of it i did not see an air filter.

Some tricky stuff going on there, Wish i brought my camera with me

Yea, the rsx engine is reversed from what the "normal" layout of honda engines are. He probably had a cold air intake.

interesting.. you should of easily walked him.. maybe he had the nos! (sorta sounds like it if you were gaining then he started to pull you.. )

watch out for turbo hondas though.. they are no slouch.. several around here go 110 mph+ all stock engines..

i buddy of mine has an 03 RSX type S and has standalone mangament and has set Vtec at 4400RPM and the redline to 8600RPM and that car hauls ass

It's good to know but at the same time its sad to know that a RSX can stomp on my Supra. Maybe he had some tunning. I dont know for sure and i did not take a really good look.

I know my TPS is still not set correctly though. so that might not help. and ya i need to get a SCD its so sad shutting down at 180kph

I am pretty sure if i even just had a SCD and a boost controller i would have creamed the guy.

i raced a Rousch Mustang 2006+ stg 2 or something on 13-14 psi i walked him by like 6-7 cars by 80mph from a 40 roll. i just have 3inch exhaust from the stock y-pipe back and thats it

he must've had spray or something
