Hello, my name is Carlos and i'm pretty excited about my new 1988 Toyota Supra Turbo from my brothers neighbor for $1500. It had been sitting in his garage since 2001!! It looks to be in pretty good shape. Paint just needs to be buffed out. Interior is original and showing its age. Leather seats need some attention. It hasn't started in 8 years so I got some work to do to get her running again. Here are some pics.

It sat in this garage since 2001.

The only thing I didn't like was that its an Automatic. But I'll live!

Leather is pretty rough in the front. Rear is perfect.

Overall it seems to be in pretty good shape. Oil looked ok when I changed it. I drained the coolant which was pretty nasty and rusty looking. I flushed it out as mush as I could. I was able to turn it over by hand with no problem. Seems like whoever worked on it last rushed to put things back together and didn't plug everything back in properly. The VSV?? are not mounted to anything and their seems to be a vacuum lines unplugged down there as well. I want to drain the gas and put some fresh gas in and get it started soon. Let me know what you think. This will be my daily driver once I get it running good.

Will give me more time to play with my other toy!!

Nice find! Your 280 looks pretty nice also. I have always like the styleing of 280's since my step-father had one back when I was just a little tike.

Welcome to SM.

$1,500....What a steal. I'm all for a Midnight Blue Supra. :)
That's a very nice Z you've got, as well.

But be forewarned, With the Supra in tip-top running shape,
You may very well find yourself with two toys to play with. ;)

Thanks for the comments guys. The Z has come a long way in a year since I bought it. Its my daily driver right now and is extremely fun to drive, but its just a little under powered. Planning on swapping a turbo 280zx motor into it. Hoping to get around 300-350hp to the wheels.

I drained the full tank of old brown gas in the Supra today and put about 3 gallons of fresh gas in it and hooked up a new battery. So I decided to try to start it! Well good news is that it turns and I got spark! But its a no go!! I guess it could be a clogged pump, filter, fuel line, or just that 3 gallons wan't enough to start. Tomorrow i'll check to see if its pumping gas out the line and work from there.

Worked on the supra a little bit more today. Checked the fuel line and it was bone dry. Then started checking and I was getting nothing at the fuel pump. So I started going down the list of possible problem areas. Fuses all seemed ok. It turned out that I had a bad Main EFI Relay. But I was still not getting any fuel. Checked the Fuel Pump relay and resistor and they tested good. I was getting power at the fuel pump but was still getting nothing, so i'm guessing its a bad fuel pump. So I dropped the tank and pulled the fuel filter.

Tomorrow I will replace fuel pump and filter. And will also blow air through the lines to see if they are gummed up. But it doesn't look like they would be.

Any recommendations on what type of Fuel pump and filter to use.

Welcome! What a great deal on the Supra. I also paid 1500, but mine is not a turbo. Still love it to death though. Can't wait to find out what it is that is keeping yours from getting on the road.

welcome fellow texan! Interior looks pretty good for it's age! Good luck with fixing her up, supra's don't deserve to be stuck in garages

Supra update! IT RUNS!!!! After 8 years!!!! woohoo!!!

Well today I changed the Fuel pump and fuel filter and I now fuel and fuel leaks!! haha! Cranked it a few times and it sounded like it wanted to start, but I could smell fuel pretty bad. So I go and look and its leaking pretty bad. I can't see where its coming from, but it looks like it may be coming from the injectors. But I said what the hell! I just want to start it. Not drive it around. So I kept cranking it and sudenly it started!! What a rush! It ran pretty rough. Got good oil pressure and let it run for about 30 seconds then shut her down. Started her back up again and it ran really smooth! Nice steady idle. No knocking, or smoke! Oil pressure held steady and looked good. I wasn't getting anything on the temp gauge so I went to check if the sensor was plugged in and the end broke off!! Tried to rewire it but I still was getting nothing on the gauge. So I didn't let it run to long. I did move it back and forth a little and it seemed fine. The parking brake was stuck and I need to check my fuses, because I had no dash lights, but thats about it.

I'm pretty stoked, but I still have quite a a bit of work left.

Congrats on the purchase, yours was way cheaper than mine. I just purchased an 87 turbo with the same color as yours. It does have BHG, so it's in the shop for an MHG installation as well as timing belt, etc. It only have 45000 miles on it, but the previous owner decided to stomp on it without changing the head gasket or tightening the head bolts.

I took off the throttle body, iscv, throttle cables, and all the intake and pcv tubing today and jumpered the fuel pump and found out it was leaking from one of the injector o-rings to the fuel rail. Not suprising since its been sitting for a while. So I pulled the fuel rain and injectors off. Some of the lower o-rings were also dry rotted.

Also found some more broken hoses that need to be replaced. Do most people just by appropriate hose sizes or buy the special prebent hoses??

I'm going to make a list of part numbers of o-rings and gaskets that I need and see if I can order them from work. I should be able to get them at a discount! :naughty:

Any recommendations on what else I should do while I have all of this apart. Intake looks like it has a lot of carbon deposits in it. I was thinking of letting my injectors to sit in a tub of sea foam and possibly running some through the intake after I get it all back together.
