Okay guys, so it was all summer and such and for as long as i can remember my heat was working perfect. I had a blown head gasket and just fixed that a week ago. It works perfect praise the Lord. Now it's starting to get chilly and what the heck, now my heat is luke warm as best. My thermostat rises to about 1/3 of the way as usual, but the heat never gets warm. My car is running perfect and the vents transition as usual and the AC is not on and I've even switched between outside and inside air. Nothing seems to work. It's getting cold out and i need heat. I think it might be related to the bhg repair but i really don't know. Maybe it's a sensor? Help would be appreciated. thanks in advance!

There is a valve that flows coolant into your heater core (the part that warms the cabin air). That valve can sometimes fail. You can rig it a few different ways to stay open. Search for "heater valve stuck" or "heater valve fix" and I bet you'll find a few good threads with pics for how to fix the issue at no cost. :)

That sounds good! ill do that. Thank you! But why would it stop working now though? it was like mid 70s the whole time it sat. Could it be that because it sat for a week without coolant in it it dried shut or something?

You might have forgotten to hook up the vacuum line to the valve. With you heat on full blast, check the valve, the arm should be UP. If it is still down youve got an issue.

If you just bypass the VSV altogether this also works, but the valve will shut off under boost.

I replaced mine years ago with the Mercedes Benz part, works great.

Update....I hopped in my car this morning and threw it on CC set at 72 because it was pretty chilly. Maybe 55 out.l It all worked perfect to my surprise. I was warm in no time. I'm thinking maybe the valve was stuck or it had an air bubble or the valve is going, but for now it seems okay again. If anything happens again i will definitely look at that valve though. Thanks guys! big help for real!
