Well anyways I bought a 1jz swapped 1987 supra with a Blitz twin turbo kit on it, and it wasn't running(electrical problems) Anyways I got it running and was about to head down to the tuning shop until I checked the turbo's shaft play:3d_frown:
Anyways all the details are in this e-mail I sent to BLITZ and I am awaiting a response back from them, There was lots of shady machining on these and so far I am not impressed :nono: but we will see if they respond
Just figured I would post this to give my fellow supra owners a heads up:sarcasm:

I would like to hear your input.

Heres the e-mail I sent them today (its fairly long but read it if you want to see what I found):

Hi, My name is Doug Rinell, I am from San Luis Obispo California, USA. I am contacting you because I purchased this toyota supra with a 1jz swap and one of the buying points for me was the Blitz Twin turbo kit he had on the car, along with the 1jz swap. This car had electrical problems so once I had fixed those I was expecting to start my car and be able to take it to a dyno shop and have it professionally tuned. As I was prepping it, i.e. change oil, new coolant, and a new fuel filter. while I was doing this I checked the turbos and found they had a excessive amount of shaft play. To make a long story short I called one of the local machine shops and found a retired man who specialized in kkk turbos.(These are kkk turbos)
So we pulled them apart together and what I found amazed me. First off the bearings were fairly worn, which is obviously caused by lack of care from the previous owner.
The thing I found though was on the rear turbo when the compressor housing was machined to fit the k-26 wheels (these were k-27 turbos) the compressor housing was machined wrong, the radius was not smooth and had many deep grooves in it. now this may seem like a common cause of the compressor wheel hitting the housing but it wasn't. I checked with bluing and I also measured it. (it should have hit but the compressor housing was machined to big for the wheel.)
Another thing I found wrong with them was that the seal plate on the rear turbo was machined to clear the back of the compressor wheel. It looked like this was a mistake because there was a extra washer put in that spot to make up for the machined material.
The other thing that I found wrong was that the wrong thrust assembly was used on each turbo. I don't know how they were put together before like this but when I ordered the new thrust assemblies(the same ones that came off of the turbos) I went to bolt them together and I found that the compressor wheel hit the housing before the seal plate was completly seated in the housing. So I put the old thrust assembly back in and when using a new seal plate(I got rid of the "wrongly" machined one) I bolted it back together and I found that the compressor wheel was binding with the seal plate.
The turbos then came back together and my friend found out that there was a one piece thrust assembly that could work also. so we ordered it and bolted it in and everything fit! I was stoked.
Anyways the reason I wrote this e-mail is because I was really expecting more out of a company such as yours. My understanding is that you have a pretty good rep and working at a fabrication company myself I would expect a product to be assembled correctly and machined correctly.(especially a precision part like a turbocharger.)

I wrote this e-mail to inform you of what I found and to show my dissapointment in your product. I would appreciate a response greatly and maybe you could shed some light on the interesting way you machined these parts.
Thanks,
Sincerely,Doug Rinell.

well its really hard to point the finger at anyone simply because you may or may not know the history of those turbo's..

Who's to say the previous owner or the owner before him didnt monkey with those things??

Atleast your email was polite and well put together!

Ya I was kind of worried about it being the po (reason I didin't point any fingers) but I know its a blitz turbo kit and the po told me it was pretty new. but then again that aint worth much.
