First i`m state that this going to a long post. Today i noticed that that the coolant tank was full, but the radiator was a quart or so low. So, i topped it off. Then i put the cap on half way on so to let air out. Then, as the car came to temp, it would not stop bubbling out, but i gabbed the upper radiator hose and it felt like nothing was flowing! Next, the heater in the car is also not acting right. The heater if turned off for a awile then turned on at high at 85 will blow Hot then gradually go luke warm. All of this is going on with no signs of a bhg. Such as; no sweet smell, no white smoke, good compression, normal gauge readings, and no milky oil. Maybe its a bhg, or faulty water pump? Thanx for reading my post, and thanx for any help. Shelby

Change the thermostat first. Then worry about the waterpump.

thats prolly the problem right there, your thermostat is stuck closed, its rare, but it happens. change it before u start looking into water pump problems.

If youre coolant is still going down but there is no sign of BHG, check the coolant line that runs behind the spark plug gallery. if its slightly loose then that could be the problem. Also if its leaking due to the location it could evaporate off the engine before it hits the ground hence no puddle.

I, and this is my dumb asscot. So I would gut the thermo and go from there. I'm told if you gut it. It will keep you from over heating still. I have yet to attempt this theory. But I herd it from a sound mechanic. So maybe you gut it and do whatever else and you save yourself 50/100$.

the top one is deff the thermostat lol. for gottoyota? if your reserve tanks gets sucked down alot that means the coolant is going some where. it is either getting burnt or it is leaking out some where.

my heater does that eact same thing... strange, i have NO symptoms of BHG tho (I just replaced it)...very wierd...maybe clogged heater core?

Gottoyota: Hmm, pressurize the cooling system, and check for leaks, if there aren't any...then you have a BHG.

^^ Never had this problem in my sup, but in other vehicles, usually if you heater loses its heat, and it only does under certain conditions and works fine others then you have air in the cooling system. Not sure if thats your problem as I'm sure you checked your cooling system.

reserve????????????????????????????????????
If that light comes on you had better get gas and I mean quick in my ride. I know mine will run on fumes. I have yet to have to treck off for gas while leaving the car though.
And you are exactly correct. Supra is a life style. I thought I was alone in this principle.
