it lives!:evil2:

im currently replacing the engine in my 91 gt celica it has the 2.2l 5sfe engine, im replacing it with a 89 3sfe 2.0l. the engines are identical aside from the displacement and some electronics. therefore im using the 91 wiring, manifold, and ecu as it matches the car.

now for my question.. which set of injectors do i use the 89 celica(3sfe) has blue injectors and the 91(5sfe) has yellow.

im guessing that the 91 injectors are bigger as that engine is bigger.
id rather use the 91 injectors as i know that the impedance is compatible with the ecu. but are they to big for the 2.0l ?

The injectors will be bigger, but the main thing you need to know if the coils are compatible with the computer. To check for that, just use a volt-ohm meter on the ohm scale and check one injector of each.
It will be either ~14ohms for a high resistance one, or ~2ohms for a low resistance one. I just ran a quick check, and it'll be a 50/50 shot. Some 3SFE engines came with the high impedance injectors, and some came with the low. You will be running a little rich, too. The 5SFE injectors flow 213cc and the 3S ones flow 199. Not too bad, though. Good luck!

Here's my source for injector flows: http://www.antikmachine.com/dwld/injectors2.pdf

great point, will check that. prolly just going to use the 5s injectors then. i know they are compatible with the 5s computer, that little bit of flow shouldent be a problem

thanks

ya till the overly weak bottom blows, no big dreams here, just my winter beater.

i have less than 400$ in the whole car, 300 at police auction for the 91 with rods(yes two) protruding and 10 for the 89 at the same auction with no clutch left, but it ran great

i then had 26.50 in a ebay gasket kit and roughly 40 in oil/coolant/supplies

it lives..... it actually lives.

had a very stupid mistake on the install, but after a few words and some quiet time i figured out that i had the cyl # order completely backwards.

at least it runs though.cold air too.
