I have a few questions now that I am strongly considering a 2jz-ge NA>T swap with 7m electronics in my 87 or 89.

1. Are aftermarket rods the same between ge and gte 2jz's (would a set of eagles for a gte fit my ge)

2. Is the bore size the exact same? I was looking at getting some aftermarket GTE pistons Both for strength and to lower the comp ratio.

3. I assume I will need a GE specific MHG as the the head is different???

4. Will headstud kits for the gte work with the ge block and head.

5.where are you swapped guys feeding your turbo's oil from and where are you returning it at and and with what parts etc....

6. If i have a 89 with a round mount X member what needs to be done? just drop it in with new 2jz mounts from a mk4 or lexus??

7.Where is a good place to get the motor from? and will the oil pan need swapping if it comes from a mk4,sc300 or other 2jz car. ??

alot of newb questions here but i am trying to get them taken care of in one thread. I am really getting excited about the low cost involved with the swap.

Thanks In advance
BJ

I can answer #6- you'll need to get a set of mounts made specifically for the supra. Either 1jz supra mounts, or buy a set of BIC's.

And don't be surprised for this "low cost" swap to get real pricey real fast.

ge and gte are the same

for the feed.. you have to run it from the intake side of the engine around the block to the turbo

-As tissimo said, GE and GTE are the same for ?'s 1-4.

-Also, as he said about the turbo feed.. I'm using a sandwich adapter plate and running it around the backside of the motor. For the return you drill out the upper oil pan, as it has a casting mark where the return would go had it been a GTE. I then drilled and tapped holes so I could bolt on a -10AN fitting from ARZ.

-Use BIC 89+ mount/JZA70 mounts

-I'll PM you the place to get the motor
you want an SC300/MKIV for the oil pan with the correct sump.

OK adding a few more questions to the mix

1. will aftermarket gte valves work in a ge (assuming its non vvti)

2. aftermarket cams would be the same???

3.Is this setup correct for the clutch 1jz flywheel > 7m disk > 7m PP?

That's a negative on the cams there. TT exhaust cams won't work in a GE on the count of the dizzy, be they aftermarket or stock.

If you must have aftermarket cams, I believe regrinds are your only options.

The intake cam will work, but you will need a GE exhaust cam for the distributor..

Not sure on the valves, but I would assume so, since you have to ground them to fit anyways..

Yes thats correct on the clutch..

You're wrong. Don't post if you don't know.

Once again, Tissimo said it best. They'll fit exhaust won't work with distributor/CPS.

I'm not wrong, I just didn't explain well enough.

There is a slight difference. ;)

There is a set of 1J motor brackets and mounts for sale in the JZ parts section here. Looks like a great price and I am pretty sure they will work with your setup. I cant remember if it is 89+ or 90+ that those brackets will work on, but you should check them out. Start off by saving some cash.
