NewBoston, Oh
i have a 90 7mge 5-speed and the car has not run right since i purchased it.
i noticed my check engine light was burnt out so i took the dash apart and realized someone had removed it. well i replaced the bulb and checked for codes i got 21, 51, and 52. the car seems to be down on power and idles around 1,400 rpm! i looked up the codes but wanted an opinion on where to begin. if the tps is bad will the one off my 87 turbo work? i dont have that car here and i am not surre if they are the same. the car dosent want to run at all when it cold it just spits and sputters but when it comes FULLY up to temp it run out smooth but misses slightly at an idle.

52 is knock sensor, which i think the later blocks have 2 sensors!? if i'm correct....i had that problem, "Shaeff" knows a bit about that situation....For me my sensor was bad, which is rarely the case, code 21 is O2 sensor? i think, do that one first...then see if the car runs any better, if not check your timing...That is always worth a try:]And 51 says ac so i guess nothing to worry about unless you're hot....lol

I'd do the TPS check to see if it just needs adjusted. The O2 has a resistance check also. They are fairly cheep if you just get a generic at AZ or someplace like that I think 35.00-40.00 about a year ago I got one. And like Black Dyno says the AC don't worry about until next summer. You Buckeyes have cooled down by now.
