I hope you weren't expecting any significant increase in mileage because the displacement. Still takes fuel to make more power but 75 to the half is just terrible. Try replacing your o2 sensor and stop having a lead foot.:) Start there.

Even when I'm driving hard I can get 230ish to the tank. If I'm easier on the gas/boost, better than that.

i dont have a lead foot. i did when i first got it but i boost 13 psi maybe 3 times this whole tank and its STILL this bad.

time to junk the twins i guess. like 8 % throttle from traffic lights im in boost which drinks gas. gay twins

or maybe i'll just go 2J like planned and have low torque so i dont have to boost just to keep up with traffic...

Shift lower to keep out of boost. If I'm trying to get better mileage, I won't go above 2500.

I don't think a 2J is gonna solve your problem. Well... your 2J might not have this problem but that won't tell you what's causing your issue on your 1J which you should do first anyway.

I'm not good with the electrical part of the car but you could have the same problem with your 2J if your using the same harness/ecu. If you run in sequential it will be boosting really easy as well. If you run in TTC, now you've lost your lower end power.;) I've driven both and don't really like either setups with the stock twins but that's just my experience.

Just an observation. I'm sure someone with better advice on this will chime in.

not true

tissimo is running TTC and hes still way into vaccum around town.

and shifting at 2500 doesn't help cause then yur just put into a longer gear which then it takes more throttle and boost to get moving in that gear.

I'm getting better gas mileage with the 1jz than i ever did with the 7m. Maybe you have something hooked up wrong or you need to change the plugs. Or maybe you're driving it harder than you realize.

I shift at around 3-4k rpm and gets good mileage. I only pound the twins when I merge on the highway. And yeah I did replace my O2 sensor and before it was terrible.

I had the same problem with my 1j, I would get terrible in town mileage. Once it was on the open road and I could keep it from boosting it would do as well or better than the 7m, its just a challenge trying to keep the stock twins from boosting.

Its ironic, the day I sold the car was the day I got the best mileage. Oo the ride up to meet the buyer I was getting about 30mpg from what I could tell. I used less fuel than my frind did behind me in my WRX.

My engine is fine. If I stay out of boost and drive it normal, the mileage is great. I normally don't drive normal though and then it's not so good on gas.
