Hey as i was taking apart my 7m i did a compression test and it looks like 120-130 for every cylinder :icon_conf .It has 118k on the motor the cylinder walls look good.Could i get away with a honing and drop in some new slugs and rings?Or do you recommend boring it to?And i know its rings cause with a few drops of oil it will go up to around 150.So any input would be good.I just got an hks beaded gasket and almost every gasket for the motor from toyota. But im trying not to have to do alot of motor work cause the machine shops around here are run by monkeys and they dont even know what a 7m is.And my $360 car payment and $428 insurance on my wrx is getting crazy. So i have to sell it and get the supra on the road.

If you have a good cross hatch on your cylinders, you probably will be able to get by with a hone and re-use your piston w/ new rings.

Since you're going that far...here's what else I would do:

- Close inspection of the crank and rod bearing surfaces..good to go..use new toyota bearings with the TRSM clearance spec.
- If you are going with a HKS MHG, you have to get the block & head decked to an RA of 30-35. A cometic MHG is a little more forgiving...RA of 50 is the max Cometic spec.
- 3 angle valve job...replace the valve seals...you should be able to re-use all your valves & guides. Have the springs tested for proper compression strength and replace as necessary. Your cams should be fine.
- ARP studs or bolts for the head, torqued to ARP spec...as $$$ permit, ARP rod and crank bolts.
- New timing belt
- Kinda goes unsaid...new crank & cam seals.
- You could have the crank, rods, and pistons all balanced as $$$ permits.

I see you're in Largo...there's quite a few shops over in Tampa that can do the work right. PM Rakkasan...he lives over in Plant City; I'm positive he can point you to a good shop.

That's great...brother-in-law deal huh :naughty:

The most critical tolerances are the crank bearings, the RA, and torque spec for the head. You should be good to go.
