Motor mounts?

I have the 7mgte I pulled out of my 89 with square motor mounts, and I'm trying to put this motor in my 91. Since the round mm in the 91 were no good, I grabbed the round motor mounts and brackets off my wrecked 89 NA.

Now the driver's side motor mount attaches to the fuel filter bracket I think, but the that bracket hits the mm bracket. What am I missing here?

If you used square mm in an 89+ wouldn't you have to have to have a pre-89 crossmember?

Fuel filter is in the back of the car, are you talking about the j-tube?

edit: Do you have them on the right side? 89+ mm one side is shorter than the other. The j-tube bolts to the block...I'm still lost at what you're describing. Can you get a picture of it? (Sorry if there is one, Websense at work blocks all pictures)

Ok so The bracket circled will not fit up the through the tranny bellhouse mounting bracket and go through to the threads because it hits on the mm bracket.

I don't have a clear shot at it, but from the lousy picture I have there is no bracket attached to that bolt.

Okay, I understand now. That bracket is for the engine shock absorber used only with the square brackets. That part is not used with the round liquid mounts.

Ok so the square ones had an engine damper ?
Someone said that they could buy the round mm for around 50$ Where the hell did this come from? I have been looking and cant seem to locate new motor mounts anywhere ( for a reasonable price like 50$)

Any help would be a step forward!

7MBoost: I'm home now, I have no clue what that bracket attached at the motor mount bolts is. My transmission wings bolted to the block behind the motor mounts (I'm pre-89). Sorry :dunno:

Sorry my round ones are completly separated ! I have some square ones but dont really want to use them. Or maybe I cant since My car is a 90 ?

Are you sure that motor mount is on the correct side? I am trying to recall how it was on that engine I bought from you.. I just used my 89 mounts on the 91 block..

Ok so why does the engine brace/dampner thing have 2 mouting holes?

I already told you.... you don't use the damper with the round mounts. Toss it away.

I couldn't find any round mounts, exept 150 bucks each from toyota, so I bought some solid mounts for 120. They sure wont break. Have to deal with some vibration though.

I don't think the round and square mounts are interchangable. When I did my second swap themotor came with newer round motor mounts. They were a different length though, so I didn't use them. I have an 87 that uses a dampner with the square motor mounts.

They are not interchangeable without swapping crossmembers, but 7MB apparently has at least three supras, so it seems he has enough parts to make it all work.
