I pulled the 1jz from the clip today... and one of the mounts, the Left hand side, just broke... :icon_conf so anyways, ive got one good one and one bad one. i know that some people have made the MKIV mounts work. Ive pulled motors in 97-98's. they are virtually identical to the 89-92 mounts on the mk3 in physical dimension. the difference is that the 97-98 mounts appear to be rubber encased in a metal housing that wont pull apart. seems like they will resist and avoid tensile stress alot better. but, i also recall seeing motor mounts in a 94 mkiv that had a small cast iron wedge on the top of the mount. so its physically different than the 98 mounts i saw. im assuming there is a design change between the pre-97 mounts and the post-97 mounts right?
i just need someone else to confirm this for me so i can go head and make a move to either get new 97-98 motor mounts or just find one stock mk3 mount.
actually, from what i recall, the pre89 motor mounts have parallel mounting surfaces. the square pre89 motor mounts are shorter in overall height, but they will still allow the motor to fit the same way as the round mounts. has anyone tried to install an 89+ 7M or 1jz using the square pre89 motor mounts on the later crossmembers?
