Hey whats up guys? Well as the tite says, my cars burns oil, and it smokes quiet a bit, I just recently did a compression test, and all my numbers were very high, and i think that it might be my turbo seals. I was just wondering if there are any other reasons why the car might smoke, before I am possitive that it is my turbo, I was wondering if my pcv system could cause it to smoke, or any other reasons, please let me know, please and thanks Ricardo.

PCV system could cause smoke.. how is it setup?[/QUOT

Well rite now i just have the stock pcv system, but would it really cause that much smoke when i get on it. Is there a way to test the pcv system? I wanted to know if it would harm anything if i disconnect the pcv system going into the intake, and plugging the intake? let me know what you guys think, please and thanks Ricardo.

hmm unless there was major blowby or a clogged PCV system then it should be fine

There may be excessive oil from blowby built up in the intercooler/ic pipes. That could slowly be burning away.

You can smoke and have good compression. Compressoin comes from the top two cylinders. The bottom is the oil control ring.

When exacly does it smoke? Start up, accel, decel, idle?
Well one of my friends was driving behind me and said there was a tiny bit of smoke when I would drive normaly, but it smokes pretty bad when I really get on it, and sometimes it hardly smokes when I am on it, so I am confused on what the hell is going on, but other than that it doesnt smoke at idle. What do you guys reccoment that I do? please and thanks Ricardo.

If the compression is good, and it smokes on heavy accel, my best guess would be turbo, alot of times they smoke when you decel/stop/idle too, depends what part of turbo went bad, check for shaft play.

valve stem seals/ valve guides (although I think worn guides would mean a little bit low on compression)

Are you sure it's oil? How much oil are you adding per tank of gas?

Do you have any mods that would cause you to run rich? Is the back of your car sooty, or oily?

The weather here is getting colder. Are you just seeing normal vapor?

Well I dont really have many mods, I only have an intake, blocked off EGR, and a 3" DP, and this problem just recently started about a month ago or so. The back of my car seems more sooty, but i am possitive it is oil, because the smoke is bluish. I have only had do add a little less then a quart in the past month, and yea I am possitive it isnt normal vapors from the weather, damn i hate this smoking problem, what can I do guys? Ricardo

Not much without really digging in. You should check your turbo for excessive shaft play. If that's a problem, your turbo might be the source of your oil. Otherwise I'm thinking it's the oil rings. If it's the latter, I'd drive it until it becomes a real big problem. If it was valve seals, you would usually get a nice poof of smoke when you start the motor.

Some smoke when acclerating hard is normal. The car is running very rich at that point. And the catalytic converter needs a short moment to burn the fuel, and when you stomp on the loud pedal, it does not get that moment.

We just got 6-12" of snow here so he won't need to worry about stomping the loud pedal anytime soon. :icon_bigg

Hey thanks for all the help guys, and yea I know that some smoke, but it just worries me that it didnt do it as much before, and I was also wondering if having my EGR blocked off might have anything to do with my smoking? I know I keep asking the same question, but would it do anything if I unplug the PCV hose going into the intake to see if it will stop it from smoking a bit? But yea damn snow here, i am so thankfull to find out my car does so well in the snow, since i was down for the swap all last winter. Well that is with some weight in the back. I knew that 4k lbs and ABS is good for something :biglaugh: Thanks Ricardo
