I went to the track tonight to get in a little practice before my brother gets his vette out of the shop. He's having headers and exhaust put on it now with no cats. I still should be able to beat him on the highway, but I doubt I can at the track.

First run ( I was the first one on the track........as usual)
60'..............1.856
330'............5.359
1/8..............8.241
MPH.............83.27

Second run
60'..............2.086
330'............5.814
1/8.............8.740
MPH.............81.79

Third run
60'..............2.248
330'............6.026
1/8.............8.957
MPH.............83.21

The first run was real smooth and I would have never thought it was my fastest time ever, but it was. The next few run I made, I got real bad wheel hop for some reason. My last two runs which I haven't posted the times up were awful. I bogged the car down the last two runs for some reason. I couldn't keep the rpm's high enough and it fell on it's face. The first run was the only one that I"m proud of. It isn't fast for alot of supras on here, but it is for some and it happens to be my fastest.

Nice run Jay!

I hate to say it, but it sounds like you are describing another clutch failure.

I couldn't care about this clutch. I need to break down and buy a good one and quit buying these three hundred dollar advance auto parts clutches. They don't hold very long with the drag radials.

Yeah, I know his car is going to be mean. When I ride with him, I can't believe I can outrun him. His car will pin you to the back of the seat, but somehow, my little 2.5 liter owns his ass right now. If he gets to beating me too bad, I'll pull my motor out and put a 2jz block in it with my 1jz electronics. I really don't want to do any more wiring..........:nono:

yeah ls1's really like headers and exhaust upgrades.

congrats on the times! real close to 7's. if you didnt know, you can get a pretty good idea of 1/4mi time by taking your 1/8mi et X 1.5

wanna race my vette before i hang some turbos off of it? ;)

That equates to a 12.36 which I thought I was capable of. I thought that's what I would have ran at Steele a few weeks ago, but I couldn't get it into third. Since I"ve adjusted my clutch, it shifts alot easier.

I took my brother to pick his vette up today.....................DAMN, does it sound bad ass? It makes me kindof scared to race him. I will get a chance to race him soon I'm sure. It is going to be alot closer and I may even lose, but I doubt the headers helped him out that much. I"ll post the results asap though.

Not bad for an 1/8 mile time... When i was at Toyota Nationals this year, all the MkIVs were getting in the 9s, only 2 of them made it in the 8s... and ONE MkIII made it high 7s...

*happy dance* for you my dear!!! :boobies: :boobies: :boobies: :boobies:

good runs Jay

seems odd tho. i ran on stock twins on wastegate i cut a 2.1 60ft and went 8.9@81mph in the 1/8th

so we're dead even at half track. doesn't make sense

but anywho you're having fun and improving KEEP IT UP!!!

I don't really get what you're saying. I would think the twins would be even at half track since they spool quicker. I would also think I would walk on you at higher speeds. What doesn't make sense about it? Do you think I should be running better times? Our track is getting better, but I still hear people complaining about it all the time.

My avc-r saids it's 1.33 bar when I dyno'd which should be 20 psi, but my boost guage only shows 16psi so I really couldn't tell you. I haven't paid that much attention to my avc-r here lately to see if it's still reading 1.33, but I know my boost guage is reading 16.....................:dunno:

I was going to try racegas, but was scared to because it wasn't tuned for it and I didnt' know if it could hurt anything or not. When I run slower times, my trap speeds are higher, but usually that means I've spun a little bit. On my 8.24 I was the first one on the track and didn't spin at all. On my 8.77, I ran 87.77 mph, but I spun through first a little.
I know my torque is down. It makes me want to pull my motor back out and put new rings in it, because my compression is so low. 135-140 across all cylinders. I think the rings might be bad, but I don't smoke and I don't lose one drop of oil................:dunno:

you said 81/83 on the other runs? What tires do you have? I really havn't run on anything but street tires or drag radials.. maybe slicks are different? but it does seem down on power.. It might be picking up some knock and retarding timing.. Race gas wont hurt anything mechanically.. It will shorten the life of your o2 sensor.. Its worht a shot..

But 81/83 seems very low for 440whp...

I'm on drag radials and all of my runs saturday night were around 83, but previous nights they were all around 84-88.

I don't have an o2 sensor installed on my car. I have the AEM wideband installed in my downpipe and a resistor installed in my o2 wire. Aaron put the resistor in there, so I don't know what it does. I may need to go to a standalone. Do you have any suggestions?

5000 posts.

It will shorten the life of your aem sensor..

Try the racegas (I suggest some 110 or so ) and see what It does.. high 80s isn't bad.. I would assume wiht 440whp It would be 90+ though..

My 2j did similar 1/8th mile times.. heres a run down of the slip.. give an idea of 1/4 times..
60 - 2.093
330 - 5.521
1/8th - 8.297
1/8th mph - 89.69
1/4 et - 12.647
1/4 mph - 113.56

Edit: where are you shifting? with my cammed 1j I shifted right @ 7500

I usually shift at about 7200 but I'm not constantly watching the rpms. When it feels right, I"ll shift.

When went to the 1/4 mile track I ran 13.24 at 112, but It took me at least a full second to get it in third. Now I've got my clutch adjusted correctly and it goes in third effortlessly.

This saturday, I will be in Tunica playing poker, but next saturday I will put racegas in it and see what it does. Thanks.
