Well I had an old buddy's MkIV gauges laying around from where he sold his car and replaced with the stock ones, and I started messing around with it a little bit.

So after about 6 hours of working and piddling, I finally got the spare Indaglo gauges installed in my 87 MkIII Supra. Note that I am not finished, and plan to do the rest of the gauges with MkIII Indaglo... Here are the pros and cons.

Pro's
1. The look
2. Personal taste
3. Semi-accurate
4. The near perfect fit
5. An extra 30MPH more in the speedo
6. The gauges are free

Con's
Because these gauges were not made for my car, Some things don't show up. The fit isn't perfect, but is damn close for being from a different styled car.
1. Can never be 100% accurate
2. Brake and Seatbelt lights hardly show up
3. Not a showcar look by any means

I want everybody to know that I don't expect anything out of this other than my personal taste, some will like, some will dislike. It's up to you.

It's not as bad as I thought it would be, it took time and effort to get it to work, I removed the old gauges instead of placing them over the old ones. They rest at their normal resting positions and IMO look decent.

Note that this was with a crappy camera, it was dark, and the clear facing was dirty. Also, I will probably end up putting the old ones back on anyway.

Enjoy!

Looks Real real real rice job to me, Id rather have stock gauges than white ones that dont fit. As you said its personal taste and by all means go with it, just saying Id rather put duct tape over and have no guages lol.

I always thought about swapping the speedo....

looks..........well...its okay...

maybe you could send those gauges to speed-hut or something, and have them create some overlays that look slightly nicer, and holes cut out for the seatbelt and brake, etc...

Yeah I was probably going to throw the old ones back in (Not literally throw) anyway. But I did it because I saw previous threads of such talk and this is the first I have seen it, plus the gauges were free. I thought this would clear minor questions up.

And besides, anyone who believes their 1987 stock speedo is 100% accurate, needs to re-evaluate things...

And thanks Mk3Runner!

The white faces with everything else black throws it off. Need some black trim rings to finish them as well.

Buying the MkIII EL gauges you will get the speedo and tach faces as well - can't buy just the smaller faces...

Of course then there is the issue of having the new faces not matching the MkIV faces.

Make your tribute another way. Maybe frame the EL faces from the MkIV and add them to your Supra Shrine (tm).

You don't have a Supra Shrine (tm)?

You know, a corner in your garage that has all of your Supra Stuff (models, magazines, etc).

i'd leave the stock gauges, they just look way more flush. those gauges (the colorway) don't look like they belong. now if you were to replace the rest of the gauges with matching white gauges then i might change my mind
