Hi,

I've been searching for a bit now about this and haven't seen a thing on it. I love the MK4 interior, how the dash kinda forms to the driver making it feel more like a cockpit and stuff. I was wanting to know if its possible to even swap the interior from a MK4 into a MK3 model? I know there is alot about the engine swaps and MK3 interior swapped into MK2 models but nothing like this. If anyone knows please inform me so I can decide how I want to do things.

Thank You.

In a word, no.
You'd probably spend as much time modifying the dash and trim pieces, that your labor would pay for a MKIV.

It's Not Important Bro
Never seen it done. And believe me, any MKIV part that can be retro-fitted into a MKIII has been done, done, and done again. Poor ole MKIII. I personally love my MKIII inside and out.

But hey, you might have a good idea here and a cool looking ride after you are done. I say keep searching and GO FOR IT!!

Yea I figured it would be alot fo time spent but would be nice looking and a shocker for sure. I might look into it more later after I play around a bit. I have a friend with a few MK3's that we could expirement with.

I like the interior of the Mk3 better personally. It looks more "elegant" and the Mk4 interior is too spaced out IMO.

I like the MK3 interior better with the exception of the MK4 making it harder for the passenger to mess with my controls.

^^^ was your post directed at me poodles?

while we're talking about seats, the USDM MK4 seats are terrible yes, ive onwed a few MK3s and one JDM MK4 which was an RZ and has Recaro SR3s from the factory, I loved them so much that I tracked down a pair and fitted them to my current MK3 :D.

overall the Mk4 interior is better IMO, but it should be because its a newer car!

Well you can do it. But it wouldnt be a swap. Youd have to make a custom dash to replicate the MK4 dash. So that way you could make it smaller and have the mounting points in the correct place. But IMO that would be a waste of money....

The overall interior of the Mk4 has always seemed... bland... to me. I do however sympathize with your love of the driver 'cockpit', although the Mk3 has a very similar setup, it's just not curved as much... If you were good with fiberglass, I'm sure it wouldn't be TOO hard to mold yourself a custom dash and bring the center controls (climate, stereo, various electronic add-ons) out a bit and angle it toward the driver... Might as well give it a shot if you like the idea that much. :)

IMO the only things that should be swapped over from the MK4 to the MK3 are the wheels and the motor. Besides that I say leave the MK3 a MK3 and leave the MK4 a MK4.
