After 6 months anticipation, my 1jz build begins!

I picked up my 1j yesterday at A1 Japanese Engines in Auburn,WA. About 60 miles from my house in Shelton just outside of Olympia.

It was a really good shop. And all of their engines looked like they were in excellent condition. They don't compression test their engines, and millage is unknown, but their engines look like they're brand new.

To begin, here are some photos of me and two of my friends picking up the 1j and putting it in the back of my 4Runner, and some photos of the 1j by itself.

Update, well a small update while I'm waiting for parts:

Front main seal
2JZ water pump
HKS timing belt

I decided to start tearing down the fount of the 1J to prepare for them, so to start I removed the crank pulley bolt with an impact gun and removed the pulley with my Toyota 1jz crank pulley puller tool.:biglaugh:
Then I removed the lower plastic timing belt cover and removed the timing belt tensioner and timing belt. I then lined up the marks on the cam gears with the marks on the metal backing and removed the cam gears and finely took the hydro pump off, and this is how it stands now.

Looks like you have only removed part of your waterpump. The rear housing will need to come off as well if you are going to go with the 2jz setup. It should come with its own housing.

I like your home made puller. I a few turns and its off :)

Suggestion :
Since you have the front cover off, I would suggest ynbolting the oil pump, cleaning the gasket surface and reseal it with Toyota Gasket maker. This will eliminiate any seepage of oil even if there is non at this time.

Also, looks from outside they took care when removing the engine. Even the hydro fan and Power steering hoses are intact. That can save you at least a 100 bucks during swap costs ( less things to buy to replace). Your mounts looks good too, but inspect them closely for the rubber can start cracking in the corners.

Good luck with the swap.
