Main problem car seems to be only running 5 cylinders.

Started drove to town all was fine shut off when started back up only on 5

Pulled stuff off top messed with wires and coil pack ran fine went to town shut off, started went to lunch fine, started again an 5 cylinders again, messed with coil pack an wires while running no difference. Started a couple hours later fine drove 10 min parked started again an back to 5. Messed with wires an packs an nothing changed, 35 miles home several stops and starts and still on 5.

So any ideas on best way to test as to what the problem is?
Coil packs are new to me so not sure about pulling off an on while running.

dont try to pull the off while running unless your well insulated. trust me on this one.

sounds like a broken plug wire, or lousy connection from coil to plug.

Ground on the coil pack wires wont matter.

You have a wiring issue from old wires prolly at the cps or coil packs. Just jiggle the wires when it happens and find the area, best bet would be to rewire the whole exhaust side. Also those wires like to corrode as well.
