Well I finally got around to dropping the oil pan off my motor to see what kind of damage I did to it. Well after finally getting the pan unstuck from the block, I think someone used a few to many tubes of gasket stuff on it :3d_frown:

I pulled my #3 cap, because it was the right there. It checked out fine. Next I turn the motor so I can get at my #6, I go to put the socket on and the whole rod just moves around knocking on the crank. I checked my other ones and they are all fine, well they don't move, I will pull the caps and check them later. I proceed to pull the cap off and not much of a surprise there, no bearing to be found. So I figure it must have spun to the top, which was wrong.

I have no bearings on my #6 rod, I don't know where they went. They are not stuck anywhere on the crank or in the rod or cap, they weren't in the oil pan and looking around I just can’t find them.

So my question is, where would they have gone? I looked all over inside the bottom end and cannot find them.

Here are some pics of the motor, sorry for the blurry ones. I was trying to show that the bearings aren’t up top. They are quite big pics, but I don't feel like resizing them.

The car ran perfect up till the time I thought it had spun the bearing, the oil looked clean, and there is no metal shavings or anything in the oil pan.

I believe your bearings are merged to the crank. Often when a bearing spins loose from the rod & cap, they will heat up and stick (like welding) to the crank.:nono:

that 5th pic down looks like a seam in the crank( bearings)

I don't see the seam you're talking about, but now that you guys mention it the crank does look a little extra thick there...

I'll take a look tomorrow and see if they did infact weld to the crank. I can compare it to my crank out of my other motor.

It does look like in some of the pics that there is a line on it, but I looked at it after seeing that in the pics and I think it's just the rod reflecting in the crank. There is no line there, it is completly smooth.

I come from a land down under
It wouldn't have ran with no insert Loki! (Well NOT without you noticing the jackhammer in the pan noise)

I'm backing you'll find em fused to the crank! :(

If you can find a hint of a part line give it a tap with a hammer and screwdriver and they shoul pop off!

I should know mroe tomorrow, if I can't find them I'm going to call my buddy who is finally back in town and see if he has any ideas.

Alright, I compared it to my other crank and they look exactly the same. So my bearings are completly gone.....

Oh, I've seen them vanish entirely - the oil supply for the bearing gets plugged, the bearing runs dry, and the temp in the bearing rapidly gets hot enough to melt the (mostly) lead bearing completely away.

wouldnt there be alot of grey metal like sludge in the bottom of the pan? or hack that oil filter apart. see if its in there?
