I have pretty new wire and plugs. Yesterday i washed my car and by mistake water got all in my plugs and the car ran like sh*t i got all the water out and it idles fine and runs strong until about 4500rpm or so and at WOT its boggs a bit and backfires out the exhaust. What should be on the list to inspect next?

First, what brand wires and specifically what plugs/gap are you using?

Water may have worked it's way inside the wire caps that attach to the plugs...blow out with compressed air.

Ok...just wanted to make sure they were not Autolite 3923's. These plugs are an 1/8" shorter than stock length and don't fully seat on some plug wire connectors (like MSD). This can cause arcing.

Make sure all the wires are seated fully on the plugs and coil packs. You may want to pull the plugs to check the gap and for fouling. Check the connectors to the coil packs; both plug and igniter connectors. If you have access to a multimeter, check the plug wire resistance...coil packs, CPS, and igniter have spec you can check per the TRSM as well.

Oh yeah...check your timing ;) It's in the TRSM.

Timing its set to 10deg i swapped my coil pack and it does a lot better now and the plugs look pretty good a little bit of gray stuff built up but not much just a little and all the plugs look the same ...... i have about 16,000 miles on those plugs and wires do u think i should just change them? Which wire should i look to buy and which of the ngk plugs are the ones that are a step colder? should i set the gap at 29?

Yeah...change the plugs. NGK BCPR6ES for the coppers or get NGK iridiums (they are not cheap). Gap depends on boost...0.031'" is fine for stock boost....0.028" is good for 10-12 psi or so. Wires are your call...I'm using MSD wires. Check the resistance on the ones you have...25 K ohms is max.
