I searched and could not find anything. Anyways, it's been awhile since I got anything 7M and need a lil' help, so that I can have everything on hand when I go to install it tomorrow... Toyota won't be open, so I need to know the specs to give the auto store guys...

1. Battery cable (pos) - Length, guage, etc?

2. Heater hose - From the back of the head to the VSV. Any partnumbers etc, commonly found at Autozone, etc? I think the last one I got was just a cut to fit replacement for around $10.

3. Tranny fluid - Auto tranny from a 90+... Type, number of quarts, etc.... I guess I use this same stuff fo rthe power steering too.

4. Antifreeze - Is there a non-Toyota "red" type available? I've already got some Prestone on hand, but remember there being some discussions about how the red stuff prevents the "chemical-change" thing of 2 different metals (I can't remember the word, sorry).

Anyways,
Simple stuff, but I'd rather know for sure than have the parts guy give me some generic deal or a hose/cable that's too short (or way too long). Thanx!!!!

coming from a dude that works at an auto parts store, me, your gonna have a hard time finding alot of stuff without having to order it. i work at an advance auto and im forever ordering everything, but ill give you some advice on your items you need.
1. pos bat cable. they only come in 4 gauge and they can be cut to any length you want. or you can buy the ones that are precut lengths. you need to measure what you need and tell them but most likel, it will be 4 gauge wire. you also have an as load of an assortment of connectors and splicers.

2.the heater hose will have to be ordered. cut to fit is still the best option. its always cheaper anyways.

3.auto tranny fluid should be a basic mercon 3. buy 6 quarts of it. unless you want to use it for the ps fluid too. then get 7.

4.antifreeze. now, this is a touchy subject here. so many opinions based on the lack of knowledge. with the changing in technology, the typical prestone or advance auto brand that is green will mix safely with anything. orange, red, green....it doesnt matter.

p.s. this is all based on one employee of an advance auto(me) so my opinion may mean shit to you or anyone else. but this is my experience. on another note, "parts jockey" is kinda offensive. and always remember, ALWAYS ASK THE PEOPLE THAT WORK THERE WHO DRIVES THE ONE CAR IN THE LOT THAT LOOKS GOOD TO YOU. YOULL BE ABLE TO RELATE TO THAT PERSON AND MOST OF THE TIME, THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.

Kewl thanx.... FWIW, I did not mean parts-jockey in an offensive way... actually thought it was "industry slang." Sorry that U took it that way.

Yeah, like you said, I'd had some luck in the past with getting replacement/equivalent stuff from the parts store... including the battery cable and heater hose. I just can't remeber what the length was for our battery cable, but like you said, I guess I can just measure. I like the pre-formed ones.

Thanx, much appreciated....
