Hi, im new to this website and also fairly new to supras. I do know a thing or 2 about them. I am looking into a mk3 supra turbo myself. I just wanna know what are the common mild upgrades do people bolt-on to give a little "HMPH!" or just suprise for the guess in the car for there little "sh*t" talk about how old, heavy and slow mk3 supras are. So any input would be appreciated :) Just mild upgrades to maybe 150-200 WHP gain.

Bigger Intercooler piping? Injectors? A tuned? (what kinda tune?) 3" DP all the way (straight pipe?) MBC or a EBC ? fuel pump? I dont want too much Horsepower as i dont wanna flash all out. i wanna learn how to build but at the same time can beat those stock WRX and little honda civics :)

No offense here, but.....If you got into the Supra thinking tossing a few dollars at it will make it fast enough to beat other cars, you picked the wrong car. While some minor upgrades do make it a little faster.....you can't just go slapping on a larger turbo and think you can smoke the guy next to you. That will last a few races and then you can kiss the motor goodbye. These are not racing cars to begin with. In your second sentence you say you know a thing or two about them, then I read the rest of your post and I honestly don't think you do. You can't just put larger IC piping, and injectors and a few other very expensive things on it and say " Ta Da! My car is faster then yours". It takes the proper parts in the proper grouping. For instance fuel upgrades have to be done properly. Walbro, with 550s are great but they don't do much good without the lex afm. Then you need an AFC to tune it. MBC or EBC is all personal preference. And these are not V8 muscle cars, you don't want to just straight pipe them. You have got to do some research about this and think about the cost of upgrading these cars. I have spent thousands upgrading a 7MGTE while I was in Germany and I thought I was doing right with all the proper upgrades. I still wasn't pushing 500hp though. Not even close.
Also if you are running a 7M, or even a JZ series, 15-200 hp gains don't come from mild upgrades. That is a huge jump for these cars. Now I know you might sit there and think but I have seen and heard of 700hp 7MGTE motors.....yeah with about $20k invested into it. ( parts and labor, tuning, dynos, broken parts, more broken parts.....)

All in all.....do some research before you jump head first into this.
Cheap, fast, reliable.....pick two because there is no way on this green earth you will ever get all 3.

I would say plan on $50/10hp for the first 25hp, $150/10hp for the next 50, and $300/10hp for anything above that.
But to be helpful, just focus on a freeflow intake, freeflow exhaust all the way up to the turbo, and shim the wastegate with 2 washers. That'll bump you from ~210whp to ~250+. And you'll definitely feel it.

This will get you started http://www.suprastore.com/stivimk3tu7m.html

Basically, start with routine maintenance. And look into re-torquing the head ASAP.

Then get yourself a 3" exhaust and a proper down pipe before turning up the boost a bit.
If that isn't enough, replace your mas air flow meter with a Lexus AFM, get larger 550 cc injectors and a better fuel pump.
You can replace your intercooler and IC pipes at any time. It won't make a noticeable difference at these power levels but it is nice to have.

This is will be a good star and make over 300hp.

Remember to search this site, there is a ton of good info here and a lot of your questions have already been answered.

Best of luck!

Oka first off, 91supra313 is wrong about a few things. You can 'cheaply' get these cars to about 300 rwhp without much being done. Many people are selling their minor bolt-on parts if you wait. You also don't need a safc to tune with when you go to lex/550's.

You want an easy 300 rwhp? Do this.

full 3" exhaust, that means get a downpipe WITH the elbow attached that is a bellmouth or full flow
Stock IC can get you to 300, but I'd just change it out with driftmotions IC kits
Walbro 255, and while you're in there go ahead and change over to the 12v relay mod and rewire the fuel pump
Apexi air filter
Electronic boost controller tuned to just under fuel cut which is probably 12 psi
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator and by pass the j-tube under the intake

These will get you pretty close to 300 rwhp, and when you want to push it further just wire in some 550cc injectors and put a lex afm on with a bigger ct26 then shoot for 350 or 400.

Actually I didn't say anything about getting to 300hp easily. If you read all of what I wrote and all that the OP wrote, he is looking to gain 150-200hp. While the parts you listed do the job correctly, he is more concerned with racing other people from the sound of it, and a STOCK ct26 couldn't catch a cold let alone a STI. What I was getting at, to make this brief, is look at your mods, and you are trying for 450.....the OP wants to simply slap some parts on the motor and gain 150-200hp.... there is a lot more to gaining 150hp then putting an exhaust, intake and injectors in there. with that sort of jump you need to start thinking about the internals as well.

My regards to you was the safc. You don't need a safc to tune lex/550 mod with. There's a reason each part is 25% bigger than it's counter part, that means no tuning.

Getting to 300rwhp is only gaining roughly 100 rwhp.. These cars are 232 bhp in great condition, so add up the years of abuse etc, that would bring the whp down close to 180-190. The 7m is very bolt on happy when you remove the big restrictions, the cast elbow in the intercooler piping and the massively restrictive stock elbow.

As for the OP just throwing parts and making 400 rwhp, no. You need to do a lot of researching and find out what mix of parts will work the best for your goal.

My list of mods will easily outrun a stock sti as I have done it but be prepared to pay a good chunk of change.

Now we are on the same page......lol. i just thought it was rather funny, how he is new to Supras, but knows a thing or two about them, and wanted to know some common upgrades for them.... that shows me that there is a lack of knowledge in the motor department. Most people think they know about the Supras because of the fast and the furious series. These older cars require a shit ton of patience and a rather nice sized wallet to make them powerful and reliable. There really is no such thing as cheap power with them. Sure you can buy cheap ebay parts, and while some of them are rather good, most will leave you pissed off a few months down the road because they broke or ruined another part. Hence the comment I made about cheap or fast, or reliable. Pick 2 because you will never have all three with these cars.

The one major thing people forget though, these cars are 20+ years old. So the parts on them are already fatigued and barely hanging on but yet people ignore this fact and think because it's turbo, it must be a racecar.

People will take a car with 200k+ miles and crank up the boost with stock parts everywhere else then run it to redline daily then call the car a piece of shit when they get a BHG or the car breaks down for no reason.

I also am new to the Supra scene and honestly have no ideas what to expect but am looking forward to learning alot about these cars. I understand that to get massive HP out of these cars is not easy but I also am curious about mild entry level mods for the car?... Im not looking to be a power crazy car but a nice looking and fun to drive car for daily use...

Do full 3" exhaust with a 3" elbow and shim the wastegate by 3-5mm. That should net you another 30-50 rwhp easily.
