So i thought i have a BHG again...well it turns out the #1 piston is sort of melted.
so i dont know what to do really...i dont have more than $1000 but i could sell my wideband and my SAFCII for some more cash. i could have like $1500 at the most.
I know this guy that has a supra but blew his head gasket like 1.5 years ago and his tranny went out and he was been workin on his motor for that long. well a guy has but its a slow slow process...but he has JE pistons and ARP rod bolts in it and its bored 40 over. so the pistons and the rods and the crank are in the block.
i asked his if he would sell it and he told me to offer him a price.

what do you think is a good price for a block with that in it?

could i just order 1 piston and all the rings for the rest of the pistons and just replace one?
what about the bearings? is there crank bearings or is there just rod bearings?
are they fairly easy to put in?
if i were to rebuild what all would i need just for a simple rebuilt?
where could i buy this stuff at?
please help and thanks for the help.

Mabey it was the Roswell Aliens that melted your piston!!!!!:yelrotflm
(dont worry all be here all week)

Dude reguardless you need to pull the block. You do have crank bearings in the journals, and rod bearings around the crank. All of which I personally would replace along with pistons, rods, a good hone??? or bore???? You have miles on your engine???? Your going to have wear and from the picture it looks like some scaring. Your going to spend money reguardless do it right. Buying an engine from someone else makes me nervous!!! Who built it??? DO you have receipts??? ect ect. You can always go JDM (ebay)!!! Or spend the money build the bottom, and check the head for cracks, guides, warp ect. Depending on what you buy and how you do it plan on $1500-$3000 t5o build to make real boost. Also do your research!!! you can find just about anything here from what sort of hg to run to members individual set up's...
Good luck and as far as that guys engine $1k is all I would go!!!!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't do $1k for an engine that needed work when I could get a running one off Ebay for a bit less. You atleast know all the parts are there and in relatively decent shape.

Just get the bottom end done. The shop I use can do it if you don't need too much machine work for around $500-600 to replace one piston, and all the rings + bearings, rehone, cleaning, etc.

A machine shop there could quote you a lower price. All you need is to replace any of the pistons that are bad, rings, rehone, all bearings, gaskets, and seals. Let the machinist tell you what you'll need as far as bearings and such. Tell him to put them to spec with what Toyota has specified in any manual that he uses for reference. This is just the bottom end, so I know you're familiar with the head on/off stuff so use that $1000 wisely. With $1500 you can have a brand new engine.
